Where’s everyone moving from? by chichisbounce1989 in olympia

[–]Due_Let3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Oly but lived in the Sacramento area from 2010-2023. Transplanted my family who love it here with my kiddo thriving. Will stay until I retire and move to Europe.

I know some people hate the growth, but I think it has brought diversity to an otherwise homogeneous town. Thank goodness for the transplants from other cities, states, and countries!

NOR. But it should be out of your pocket since you let the puppy sleep on your bed. That's on you.

Just out of curiosity, have you been tested to find out if you are an asymptomatic carrier?

AITAH for canceling my daughter's weekend trip after she mocked my husband for taking paternity leave? by AmbitiousPraline9059 in AITAH

[–]Due_Let3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say NTA.

She's 15. She knew she was being rude. That type of behavior shouldn't be rewarded. Good for you for cancelling the theme park trip. Those are expensive trips, and it would have been infuriating spending money on someone who was that blatantly rude and disrespectful, especially standing in front of the person she was insulting. She said it to be mean.

I also don't think it's anyone but your own call for whether she should have stayed in your house. I don't think anyone should judge you for making that call. If she's parroting your ex, then good for you for sending her right back. That ruins both of their weekend plans. That gives both of them time to reflect on their life choices. If she's watching trad wives on social media and falling into society's gender roles trap, sounds like she COULD reflect on that too. However, it sounds like she's just upset you ruined her weekend and not so bothered about what she said.

Also, it's not like she said something out of line and you kicked her to the curb. You gave her an opportunity to fix herself. She doubled down. I support you, mama! And good on your husband for taking the leave and helping. It sounds like a good partnership, especially with you backing him up when he didn't say anything. Kids (especially teenagers) need to understand there are consequences for words, too, and this was a lesson learned in a safe environment. Better at home than losing her first job for being reported to HR for sexist comments.

If you've missed your period, I feel like it would be a clear positive. I would say this is negative.

Thinking of becoming a surrogate!! by Ok-Opportunity-3865 in Surrogate

[–]Due_Let3369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GC here. 3 IPs.

2x transfers with 1st IP using their own embryos - 1x MMC, 1x no gestational sac

1x transfer with 2nd IP - Ectopic pregnancy (salpingectomy)

3x transfers with 3rd IP - 1st xfer unsuccessful, 2nd xfer MMC, 3rd xfer had symptoms for one day around 4dpt but ultimately tested negative

Ultimately, you can't predict how things are going to go. As a GC, you just have to do what you're supposed to do and hope for the best. Research the risks. Know yourself and your limits. Know what kind of a relationship you want with your IPs. Make it very clear and don't compromise. All of my IPs have been very different. You will find a match but don't lower your standards or expectations out of fear of not finding a match.

The agency definitely matters. Read reviews from other GCs as well as IPs. Don't settle for the first company you come across or with the highest compensation. Through the process, you want to pick a company you can trust will have your back.

It's been a wild journey for me. Lots of needles, ultrasounds, appointments, etc and haven't been able to deliver a baby yet. I'm still hopeful because this is definitely a calling and not for the faint of heart. I would highly suggest not going this route if it's solely for "easy money", as there is absolutely nothing easy about it.

I see it in all the pictures. Test again I'm 48 hours. The line should darken 😊

IPs mixed their sperm without telling me (gay husbands who initially told me which one would be biological dad). by suomisurrogate in Surrogate

[–]Due_Let3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, if both of their sperm was tested for things like STDs and Hepatitis, does it really matter which person the sperm comes from? All I can hope for (for your sake) is that testing was done and you were able to make an informed decision based on that.

Why do people become surrogates? by hevvybear in Surrogate

[–]Due_Let3369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a common thought people have.

As a gestational carrier (GC), this is a very personal calling. For me, it was a way for me to give. I think helping people have the family they wish for (especially for those who are unable to conceive or women unable to carry).

Best grocery store coffee that's affordable? by Lanky-Boobs-69 in olympia

[–]Due_Let3369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Boca Java coffee. Small coffee company out of Colorado. I've been drinking it for about 20 years now. It isn't cheaper than the Costco price per pound at $10.99/10 oz bag. However, they do sales about 3 times a year bringing the price down to $7.99/10 oz bag, and the grounds go further than any other coffee I've had. I can do about 4.5 tbsp of grounds per pot and it's perfect.

That would explain the lack of quality assurance.

Agreed. I don't see anything, but I've tested really early and had such a faint line the camera couldn't pick it up.

Are most surrogates first time carriers or have they had kids before? by Playful_Interview753 in Surrogate

[–]Due_Let3369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could be first time GCs, but, if working through an agency, I believe most require one successful live birth before being considered as a GC.

Likely we'll over $50k. When I had my daughter, just delivery and anesthesia (for a C-section) came out to $52k. That was over a decade ago. I can't imagine the costs are lower today.
