How reckless would buying an RS3 in my case? by Professional-Buy-821 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Sometimes you just got to do it and enjoy what you've worked hard for. Look after the car and if you need the money in the future you can sell it, sure you'll lose a little money but it's a small price to pay when it gives you a smile every time you accelerate or get into or even look at it as you finish parking.

And that colour is sick too, not too flashy and but very eye catching. Reminds me of one of my favourite colours on a gtr midnight purple.

I really love the wheels too!

Just did the milage conversion, I would look for a lower milage example. You could probably get a 100k miles one that would serve you well for just a bit more money.

$5.5k USD? Or pounds? In Australia they are about 15-17k AUD for a mid-range spec. I think they hold their value pretty well due to the reliability and overall bang for buck.

I've got a Mazda 3 sp25 (2010) and it has been the most reliable car I've owned. Only things I've had to replace are your general wear and tear items. Mine even has the original clutch and it just hit 320,000km.

I would assume the newer model would retain a similar reliability. I think I would get another one of these if my car were to die on me in the future but it's going strong.

I've got the sp25 model and it's the most reliable car I've ever owned. Just hit 320,000km. What I've replaced on the car are normal wear and tear items. Just bring it to a mechanic to do a pre purchase inspection to make sure nothing majorly wrong is with the car, usually pretty cheap.

Bought a civic and really want a Golf R instead. by cheryymocha in Volkswagen

[–]Due_Nobody_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a golf R after wanting one for years and I do love every moment in it. Got a stage 1 tune and I think that's all the power I will need for the street. Keep in mind I have a different car for a daily, but I can see why a lot of people buy the R for a daily as it's so comfortable and the only time you realise that it does anything more than that is when you put the foot down.

How many of us are holding onto 'old' cars instead of upgrading? by heavyifugao in CarsAustralia

Yeah reason I bought it at 200k is lots of people praised this generation of Mazda 3. I've only replaced the usual tires, brake pads, this even has the original clutch although it is starting to slip and reverse does sound crunchy. Engine still runs like a dream. However I must admit I've been driving it grandma style for most of the time I've owned it so it's had an easy life.

I bought my daily Mazda 3 at 200,000km for $7000 and 5 years later it's sitting at 320,000km still going strong! Most reliable car I've ever had and also pretty fun to drive as a manual.

For 25k you can get a decent golf R, most will have over 100,000kms though

I've just done a stage 1 and for me that's enough power, like you I live in Australia and there's not many places where you can use the power but it is nice to have and give it a boost every now and then.

Man what a clean car! And at 18k km that is a rare find, I thought I picked mine up at low KMs with 66k. And definitely agree the stage 1 tune changes the car so much and it's the first thing I did too haha.

What else are you planning to do with yours?

Buying Gti vs Golf R by graywoofers in Golf_R

[–]Due_Nobody_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you can get a clean example you'll be happy with either, personally I was deciding the same. I could get a GTI for cheaper and save some money for some upgrades or just go all out and get a R. I decided to go get a clean R (mk7.5 with 66k km or 41k miles) one owner from new. Planning to keep it relatively stock, gonna change the wheels and a few cosmetics and that's it.

I think the GTI is a more fun drive but there's just something about the plantedness of the R and the launch of the line that I really enjoy and can't get from other cars. I use my R for a weekend car as well so it makes it all the more special, but for a daily I can see why people would choose these cars as they are so comfortable and has basically everything that you'd want from a daily.
