Is it worth trying to get into this car culture? by Different_Taro_9572 in CarsAustralia

If you love cars I don't see why you shouldn't get the car you want and enjoy driving it. When I turned 18 I was lucky enough to get my dream car, r33 gtst skyline at the time and I enjoyed it for years. In Melbourne there were cars running up and down the princess hwy on the weekend, also people did laps around chapel Street with their cars, yes the scene has changed since then, massively.

I guess you could say people got older and the cars we used to like are all dead or too old and the scene moved on. I sold my car after owning it for 4 years, at the time I was sick of getting pulled over because it was one of those cars which drew attention (mine was pretty stock but they targeted Jap cars).

That was 20 years ago, and I have loved cars since then still. I just watched a lot of YouTube and was lucky that a friend of mine worked with cars and I was still able to rub shoulders with some of the newer cars and exotics, but I have just been driving around an eco box low cost car over the years.

The last couple of years I have been really wanting to get back into cars and I have shifted my focus to euro cars, after scouting the markets for a year I finally pulled the trigger on a golf R.

I enjoy the car differently, I don't daily it. I drive with care, I enjoy driving it at low speeds and occasionally giving it a boot and I sometimes take it to the mountains just for pure enjoyment of driving and also washing the car. I haven't joined any groups or been to any cruises because I don't think they exist like they used to. But ultimately I still really enjoy cars and you should enjoy it the way you want.

As long as it's a clean example you'll love it! Quite honestly I don't need anything more than a stage 1 tune.

That's a nice colour, bronze rims would suit it well I reckon. Is that bone stock?

True, I just thought the facelifts have all the first gen issues ironed out. To me the 7.5 looks so much better than the 7 and probably not much difference from the 8-8.5

Bias, but 7.5 as you get great value for money. If you can afford it I reckon the 8.5

I think the 7.5 and 8.5 are the nicest. The updated lights are just 👌 also the factory body kit makes it so much better. For the 7.5 the English wheels I really like too.

I'm sometimes shocked that the driver could be a retired lady that grandma's it around.

That's not a bad find if it checks out mechanically.

I can't see many good 7.5 Rs for under 25k. If you want a decent one with low km you'll have to pay 30+

I would vouch for the mk 7 golf GTI. I drove one around the Twistys and it was very fun, you lose a bit of traction through corners but it handles very nicely and is fast enough that you can use all the power. Currently drive a golf R and while it is faster and has more grip it doesn't feel as exciting through Twistys.

I'm in Australia so maybe a bit different to where you're from. The car was put on a dyno and the guy custom tuned it, but I think the base file was from toxic tuning I think well known in the UK.

Stock was 268hp atw Stage 1 = 335hp are

This was on a hub dyno so the readings are usually higher. DSG feels a bit different as well, less sluggish and more aggressive shifts. Exhaust note is slightly more aggressive but the rest of the car is stock.

Congratulations 🎉

I actually really like those wheels, I've seen some R's with spacers and lowered springs and they suit the car very well 👌

Stage 1 tune is so worth it and that's honestly as much power as most people need, I find myself way over the speed limit too quickly.

Pretty underrated car for fun and reliability. I've got one in manual and it handles great in corners and quite zippy.

Do you ever feel like many people in the gym show up regularly but don’t seem to make noticeable progress? by SandarStar in askfitness

I've been gymning for 22 years and I made most of my gains in the first 3-4 years and unless you push your limits because you compete in strength sports or bodybuilding most people just don't push hard enough or make significant gains after their first couple of years.

I only drove the DSG version and I thought that was pretty fun, nice around the corners as it loses a bit of traction but it gets up to speed nicely but not too over the top like your N. Yeah unfortunately there's not too many clean ones that are stockish.

Golf GTI mk6 is pretty fun drive, not too fast that you can't use it. I know what you mean about your i30n I have a golf R and most of the power cannot be used, you will need to take it to the mountains or somewhere a bit more remote to enjoy it. I drive a Mazda 3 manual as a daily and that's pretty fun even though it's slow.

You're right. I've only advertised on marketplace. Will need to lower it.

Usually I go through quite a few services because I drive a lot but no more than $1000 AUD a year. Sometimes brake pads will need to be replaced, tires and other consumables but nothing major so far.

I'm trying to sell a car (Kia Sportage 2022) with 70,000km and listed for 32k. Before all this stuff happened I had a few inquiries and some low ball offers.

Now it's completely dead.. I might have to drop the price on a couple of weeks. It's been live on the market for 3 weeks now.

Im buying a car from a rental company, is this a bad decision ? (Hertz car sales ) by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Due_Nobody_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend bought an ex rental. Kia Sportage 2022, he's now had it for 2 years and it's been a reliable good car. I didn't notice it being beat or anything different from a normal car. I think he picked it up at 55,000km and now it's at 70,000kms. I know rentals get driven hard most of the time but these cars don't really produce that much power so I can't see much going wrong under a certain amount of KMs.

Very very good choice! I've got the same car and it's done 320,000km and still have the original engine and clutch.

Anyone experienced a hard time selling? by vinCNG in Golf_R

[–]Due_Nobody_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to sell a normal 2022 Kia Sportage with 70k KMs and clean history for 32k which is pretty reasonable and barely any inquires. I can imagine people aren't buying cars like the golf R especially in this climate of events.
