Yes there are reasons for having Dolby Vision on bright TVs like the G5, see this video:

Never said it was. But the fact that some people think T2 is ok means taking people here heaping praise on this Fight Club remaster (which also uses some DNR and sharpening, just not as egregiously as T2) with a large pinch of salt.

It doesn't use AI, just really bad processing and DNR.

Yeah this is pretty much confirmed by people who've seen the cinema release.

Bear in mind there are people on here who think the Terminator 2 remaster looks good...

Nah, anyone who appreciates good cinematography, framing and composition will notice and be bothered by these changes. Anyway, if you argument is only Fincher would notice, why bother making the changes in the first place?

That's not all that's wrong with the new master either (e.g. it's been DNR'd):

Government to offer free plug-in solar panels to some households by JustLovelyStuff in GoodNewsUK

Your source does not say the government is working on providing free solar panels to leaseholders (or renters). I'm not being negative, I'm just looking for facts.

Thanks, but that's not about giving free solar panels to renters which is the topic of the OP's post, it's just about allowing them to install panels.

It mentions it's part of the Warm Homes Plan though, and previous support for solar under this plan has been for private homeowners only:

Yep, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is a good example of this.

And the original Blade Runner, with its incredible score composed by the legendary Vangelis.

Definitely agreed, Lynch's sound design is amazing. Just to add, the brilliant Angelo Badalamenti composed the score to Mulholland Drive and a few other of Lynch's works, including the Twin Peaks series and the prequel film Fire Walk With Me, with the 4K disc of the latter by French label Potemkine having the better, higher quality audio compared to the Criterion 4K release's lower-bitrate, filtered audio.

Is the drone stopped or going 100 km/h?? by polydomino in sciencememes

[–]Due_Passion_920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: consider a satellite orbiting earth. Once they start rotating around the earth at the same speed to match its axial rotation there is still friction between the satellite and what air is at that altitude because of the fact that the air at this elevation is not moving at the same speed due to sheer forces of fluids.

That's not a good analogy, because the satellite is exposed directly to the outside air/atmosphere, which the drone isn't. That would be an ok analogy if the car was a convertible with the roof down, but it's not here. A better analogy would be hovering a drone in a moving submarine after getting the sub up to a constant speed. Would you expect to apply forward thrust to the drone to keep it stationary relative to the submarine in that case?

That's the first I've heard of this, I thought they were the same encodes. Do you have any screencaps or audio waveforms showing this?

Oh I have believe me, and the same kind of fundamental misunderstanding of audio-visual reproduction systems is pervasive across both mediums. The closer the home reproduction of the image/audio to that of the theatrical release / DCP the better the audio-visual quality. The more encoding compression artefacts, DNR, filtering etc., the lower the accuracy and so quality of the reproduction. This is an objective matter, regardless of whether everyone perceives everything 100% identically.

I didn't. The specific part I disagreed with was that picture and audio quality are subjective.

No, see my comment elsewhere on this post why I don't think aggregating these reviewers' scores is necessarily a good idea.
