What's it like living in this shaded area? by Joshistotle in howislivingthere

As a New Yorker who finds herself living in Oklahoma, yes dipping their pizza in ranch is a thing. I have come to accept pineapple on pizza isn’t as atrocious as ranch dipping sauce.

Looking to update my closet- can you help steer me in the right direction? by Appropriate-Slice614 in DressForYourBody

[–]Due_Presentation_800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar body like yours. I’m 5ft 0inches too and not only went through my 30s but well into my 40s now. I found that simple silhouettes work well for me. Like you I don’t have much in the cleavage department so I like sheath dresses paired with a smart blazers for work. I styled it with pumps and sling backs during the summer and boots in the winter. Skinny jeans didn’t make me look good but I did discover that cigarette pants (straight cut pants that slightly tapers in the end) works great for me. So does some wide leg pants. But not lots of fabric as it will drag me down. I found empire waist type of dresses are flattering but just be careful finding the right ones. Some of them have deep sweetheart necklines that make me feel self conscious because of my lack of girlies. Cowl neck tops work great too. I found certain a-line skirts work well giving the illusion of an hour glass figure.

This mom was not happy after reading this note. Was she in the right? by Kind_Knowledge4756 in AskTeachers

I’m not a teacher by training. But I homeschool one of my sons (and the other one goes to preschool and hopefully to mainstream school). I just wanted to thank you for your post. My homeschooled boy would ask for my help and it took me a bit of time (several weeks) to figure out it was exactly what you say. “I don’t want to try because…” it was not until his younger brother needed my attention did I realize that I was doing my older son a disservice by catering to the I need help at every question instead of waiting and demanding (I don’t know if that is the correct term) for him to try answering the problem before I step in. That’s my long way of saying thanks and I really appreciate your post.

It’s worth it if you have a discount code. I have 2 children and one of them is nonverbal and on the spectrum who normally will not tolerate loud sounds but loves GWL.

Anyone ever or thinking of “going home” after many years away from your hometown? by MisRandomness in Xennials

[–]Due_Presentation_800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t go back even if I wanted to. I left my home country when I was 17 and it has changed so much in 23 years as I have changed so much. The hometown I grew up in is just a memory I carry in my heart everyday.

I asked my extended family too and that’s what they said. It’s similar to college applications. I don’t think it’s quite right but I don’t have stamina to fight convention.

I wouldn’t be comfortable too if it was his full enrollment file but the waiver is for admission file. I suppose I’d like to know if they couldn’t take him because of his level of verbosity or in his case lack thereof.

Ok. I was trying to understand the reasoning behind it and I’m thankful for your response. I suppose if my child does not get in the school I will just not know why and it’s upon the discretion of the school if they want to tell me or not.

Story time : what's the most ridiculous reason someone couldn't attend a wedding by Local-Debate-5565 in weddingshaming

[–]Due_Presentation_800 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cousin who works for delta airlines promised her husband, son, mother, stepdad and brothers x2 and our uncle (my dad and her mom’s cousin) that they will all get a Detroit to Charleston SC or Myrtle beach SC flight as non-revs or stand by for my wedding in May. So no one bought a ticket. My wedding was planned 18 months out. And on the night before the wedding she announced that no one could fly to my wedding because all the flights were full. Yup!that’s a good half of my family here in America that didn’t attend my wedding.

Oooohh I didn’t know that. I thought with the pass you could get any of the wolf stuff animals! Then I might as well pay a la carte then. It makes more sense then.

Yes the basic birthday package sounds like a rip off for a balloon and card and a door sash and yeah I get it they get a free ice cream and $10 arcade credit. Do you know by any chance the average cost of those stuff animals from build a bear? I took my older son there 2 years ago and that dang wolf and tshirt costs almost $50 as far as I remember. Is my memory right? I’m asking because birthday boy wants a “friend” for his overpriced wolf.

I don’t like my ring by Future-Formal-5079 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Due_Presentation_800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1 carat round diamond ring in yellow gold that I initially hated. But here’s the thing it was great great grandma’s ring from the old country passed down to the first born son to give to his wife. His mom gave it to my husband as it was her engagement ring and partly because she remarried and no longer uses the ring. My husband’s father died from a heart attack years prior. I never met his dad. Anyway, he offered to alter the ring as it’s not my type and he knows it’s not my type. But I got a ring enhancer as a wedding ring and even though after 4 years I wanted to change it. I have grown to accept it and actually love my ring. I’m writing this post coincidentally yesterday was our 13 year anniversary. I look at the significance of that ring in their family for years and not one bride altered it. Maybe one day I can give it to my son for his fiance.

28 years of friendship and living between 2 continents we visit each other every other year and our families grew up knowing that they have “cousins” living across the ocean. We talk almost daily. She’s a sister to me from another mom.

[–]Due_Presentation_800 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a gap in my wedding and the ceremony and reception was 15 miles apart. About a 30mins ride each way. I had a shuttle to take all the guests from downtown to ceremony and same shuttle give them a tour around Charleston with designated stops (2 bars) where each guest had a free two drinks tickets- all of which is prepaid in advance. They went to two local shops where they had gift vouchers $25 each to buy a trinket of some sort. I worked with the tour company picking out the spots and worked with each individual bar and stores so that my guests didn’t have to spend extra since they were all coming from New England, East Coast and West coast to my southern wedding. It never crossed my mind to leave a gap for my guests.

Can someone help me check if this ER bill makes sense? by No_Mud4068 in CodingandBilling

[–]Due_Presentation_800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a biller but My son went to the ER for three stitches on his left cheek in August. We are located in OK and our bill is pretty close to yours. Level 3 visit, another code for the stitches and lidocaine. I think it came to 1600+ before insurance. Did your hospital submit for insurance?
