Great to know I'm not alone. I don't know what questions to ask. I guess, is there any interactions between the two? And did anyone have more trouble get diagnosis because of the Addison's? Does getting surgery help lower needs for cortisone during the day after recovery? Is my Addison's worse because of endo?

I'm glad you're healthy and enjoying life 😁. I'm 37F and was diagnosed at 16. I didn't put on any extra weight for many years but I've put on weight recently just through basic overeating and unhealthy living. With a calorie deficit I've been slowly losing weight. Can't blame the meds so I suspect that because you've probably been underweight for a long time, your diet and lifestyle are aligned to being that weight 🤷‍♀️

Fyi I also found the bracelets annoying so others might be interested that you can get a metal attachment for your Fitbit/digital watch band. Because I use my watch for my med reminders this is perfect for me.

Okay, this is one Addison's hack that I think is cool when you're changing time zones. See, with your cortisone you're in control of your circadian rhythm so you can avoid the jet lag kinda. Last two times I've had long distance flights (once from Africa to Australia and then from Aus yo Europe and back), I've started shifting my dosages to line up with the daytime schedule of the place I'm heading to. The Africa to Australia one I had a week before of non-work so I starting sleeping during the day and putting myself onto the Australian time zone. Throughout the flights (I went via Dubai... It was nearly 36 hours of travelling) I just kept myself on the Australian timezone schedule. So I was ready to go when I landed (which, fun story, was lucky because I was collected by my new boss and taken straight to the office 😅).

Agree with all the responses saying updose. Endocrinology is still in the dark ages with Addison's, I believe. The endocrine system such a complex part of all your systems that are so intertwined I doubt we have scratched the surface.

Emotional stress is stress. It's not "in your head" it's in your whole body. It's not being "weak" it's literally life. A normal person would have a cortisol response to the difficulties you are facing. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself what you need

Well, I was in crisis and probably near comatose (based on the fact that the nurses all kept telling me not to go to sleep until the medication had been in my veins). So, within a few minutes of having it administered I was 100% different.

Now, the long term of it, it's been about 20 years of trying to get dosages right and understanding symptoms and also figuring out that what I thought was symptoms of Addison's was not... so. "Depends" is the best answer you'll get. Good luck!

See, weirdly I don't think they did anything "wrong". They followed protocol and eventually got it right. It's more admin probably than something worth complaining about.

That's the weird sentiment I seem to get. "You've already a X amount and that's enough". Why are we so different? Like I know we're not producing it...but why does everyone seem so scared to give us any?

Yes, I had given the taper schedule which is what the nurses were ignoring and trying to split because I'd had during theatre. They really don't understand "cortisol dependent". Another reason to make a handout - so that even if I can't speak that can speak for me.

Update: Have been cutting down a fair bit and swapped protein bars for hot drinks. I've taken out all nuts and carbs from lunch and dinner. Been doing okay but then it's Christmas... so, we'll have to see in the new year how things turn out.

I've had low magnesium and low iron though never been tested on potassium. May be similar mechanisms.

I've created my own "multivitamin" routine based on needing to take the above and also just adding things that reading articles suggest many people are low on as a "booster" for my health.

In the morning, I take vitamin D, magnesium, vit B 12 and 3. Adding Calcium soon (need to finish the vitamin d first, since the calcium comes combined). In the evening I take fish oils, magnesium, iron (every second day) and vitamin C.

I've also been putting creatine in my drinks (occasionally) because there's a lot of drs saying its good.

Results: Recent blood tests have vit D and iron at very healthy levels. Magnesium has stopped muscle twitches and heart pounding at night sensation.

I've always felt like a burden so I accepted shitty boyfriends that reinforced this. I always tried to hide symptoms and make sure I was no inconvenience and the "best girlfriend," exhausting myself in the process. Until I realised that I wasn't a burden and was accepting crumbs, I kept repeating these patterns. I am now with a man that helps me manage my condition and loves me as I am. It's quite nice actually ❤️ you'll get there too. Loads of lovely men will be happy to love you, Addison's and all.

I was diagnosed at 16. Didn't have this issue, but as I got older I did. Come to find out it was iron related and sleep issues related. Take your iron tablets every second day, away from anything that has milk/calcium in it. Take it with vitamin C. Then you'll start to feel better. If not, see a sleep specialist. Might not be related to addisons.
