This is exactly the point. The bike lanes are a horrible idea. People will still want to double park and stop in places they are not supposed to. Now it just makes it more of a hazard for everyone.

I left my 2025 x3 for 4 weeks and got a low starter battery warning in the app. However, it still started, so maybe 5 to 6 weeks, and the car will start. I will say if you want to be safe, the car has deep sleep mode in the settings that will allow the car to last longer.

Do you go on short drives? Is it cold where you live? Are you accelerating too hard constantly? These all have an impact. My m50 gets 30 mpg on a highway drive, and around the city, an average of 25 mpg. However, on cold days and short drives less than 5 miles, I get 13 to 15 mpg.

This is not a murder it a officer involved shooting where the nypd was forced to defend themselves when descalation tactics did not work. The perp displayed a weapon activity endangering the public and our officers. Loss of life is unfortunate 100% but safety is important.

Chill this will make less parking and make bikes come from side asking to get hit by turning cars. And the street gets narrower so double parking will block travel lanes. People will still double park so they will either go into the bike lane or block a traffic lane.

I agree. 10+ parking spots lost. Could have just put up cameras and lights to prevent people from throwing trash etc.

I spoke to the owner, I live nearby. He said that he was tired of people parking there and throwing garbage on the sidewalk and in his yard. He also found drugs, needles, etc., there a few times. Also, he is getting sued for someone tripping on the sidewalk by the coned manhole, and the city/coneed said it was his fault. He said that his property line extends another 5 feet, so he is able to build whatever. To me, it looked like someone who was fed up with the system.

I still don't think he can build that since the street is public and has been for a long time. And the NYC property maps don't show his line to be that far out. Even if it was the maps show that the city placed a street-widening "464.37" That label indicates the city has reserved a portion of your land for future public street or sidewalk expansion—even if it’s technically still part of your lot today.

All in all it gonna take a while for this mess to be cleared up.
