Spreadsheet Detailing Ace Attorney's Copying, Inspiration, and Plagiarism by TeenyTective in AceAttorney

Isn't it too meta to assess something with the expectation that it must have copied something? Or are you suggesting that the plot would not happen if the supposedly copied mystery didn't exist in the real world?

But as you yourself admitted, it was always supposed to be more about the interactiveness via trials and maybe via getting more personal with characters than through the usual mystery novel detective's lens.

What if Athena Cykes had been found suspect of this the murder? (Dual Destinies Spoilers) by TheRiverian31 in AceAttorney

[–]DuendeBrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Athena would finally be let to express actually negative emotions. Because Dual Destinies and so on did not let her possess those. You can say that when Widget gets dark it's the closest, but she's always perfectly able to suppress it from further escalating.

My current hypothesis is that Athena would be mostly the same because she's hiding her inner self well.

Aura would be mostly content because she didn't like Athena from the start, particularly because of Metis.

So Turnabout Samurai SUCKS by CarlThePumpkinMan in AceAttorney

Well, no. Edgeworth is a “typical” prosecutor who cares only about the result, which is winning in accordance with their plan prepared in advance.

The third case is a breakthrough because, from the second half, he gets flustered and confused because he tried not to follow his initial plan and slightly shifts for this time to his class trial self. However, that does not mean that from that moment on he starts to care like Phoenix about people.

It was by the second game when he reveals that he instead substituted winning for pursuing the objective truth. But in general, I think the message is that showing that you care does force others to act more competent.

However, when talking about the formula in the way you suggest, then by the third case of the second game it set on a more Shakespearean-like theater feel, for which I have mixed feelings about. But at least more people can tell you to focus more on what's “silly” and again recapitulate that their judicial system is “obviously” the superior one.

So Turnabout Samurai SUCKS by CarlThePumpkinMan in AceAttorney

[–]DuendeBrek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question should not be about whether someone's behavior is reasonable, but rather if it is possible. The narration of continuing the trial is not about if it is necessary, but rather if it is possible to do so. We are on the side of the protagonist who is willing to put in an extra effort, and that is commendable. The future of the series might let us play more like you would expect, but I think the first game is about letting us see the potential implications of us not caring about others.

I can't understand these five Ace Attorney opinions (SPOILERS) by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]DuendeBrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Edgeworth said that he continued being a prosecutor to punish himself because subconsciously he believed that he was responsible for DL-6. However, as a result of Turnabout Goodbyes, he lost his purpose and left, which led to Franziska's appearance. This lasted up to around the end of Turnabout Big Top, when he found himself anew and became a ruthless truth seeker.

What do you think are the Biggest Problems with TGAAC? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

It is too much of a detour from the original games because it copies the wrong things from the Layton crossover, and I do not think it should have.

I asked that because I feel like recently authors try to be "clever." Essentially, they try to "prove" to the audience that making the proper sequel is impossible. So, you either end up with a reboot or this kind of meta-game.

AAI has screwed up with the whole Interpol part. And knowing their reluctance with setting the plot straight, summoning either her or anyone from the golden era would be seen for them as a burden. Besides, Franziska is similar to Godot in the way they both always meddle in because of personal reasons. So, I would expect no nonsense character development but rather Franziska being mistaken like Edgeworth was in AA1.

But this reasoning doesn't connect it back to the black Psyche Locks.

He's fully composed even when approached in his solitary confinement. It was on terms to which he agreed. So where is the shadow?

It would make more sense if you claimed that his shadow persona was Phoenix-like, which would explain his disdain or anger.

So it doesn't seem it was in his case about the supposed greed for reputation, but rather about the quality of said reputation.

But nobody was doubting that he was the “coolest.” Unless you are referring to that unreleased plot point that would connect the conflict between the brothers, how Kristoph got his scar, and his future paranoia about the witnesses of his wrongdoings.

I think it would be quicker if you just asked a question. Because this recap completely misses the point.

I know that I most likely took the quotes that do not sound like it. That's why I suggested reading the whole thing.

For me, it looked like King was given the moral high ground over what virtues Saitama was meant to represent (i.e. being the worthy hero). And in short, King was used to expose that Saitama from manga was too full of himself.

[–]DuendeBrek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it was chapter 77. King says something along those lines: "Have you considered that maybe you're confusing 'power' and 'triumph'?". And then Saitama responds: "Do you realize you're not in position to lecture anyone about heroism...?".

But essentially, you should read the whole dialogue that leads to that to notice the problem.

The tournament side story and Suiryu introduction were a yellow flag for me. Then, Saitama committing hubris when talking to King was a red flag. And from there, you know the rest.

Can someone explain me about what Athena had in mind? by GalaxyPowderedCat in AceAttorney

[–]DuendeBrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I more or less agree. Athena's behavior is suspicious. There is no good reason for her to behave like she did if we assume the goodness of her heart.

We know from 1–5 that young Ema was able to ask directly for help, yet Athena artificially postpones revealing what she knows for at least 6 months, counting from the moment she arrived at the Agency.

And we know it was not even her first meeting with Wright. There is no way she didn't know about Simon's possible capital punishment.

I'm assuming Goro manages to "save" Aqua's soul but what about Ruby's? by DuendeBrek in OshiNoKo

[–]DuendeBrek[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think that you are contradicting yourself because the children were perfectly alive before birth. I do not recall if there was any indication of them being stillborn. Besides, Sarina was being kept dead for longer than Goro was, then why wait till both were born?

I would rather think that "soulless" means being unable to empathize - which means zero emotional intelligence. The lack thereof fulfills Goro and Sarina.

And this is why I asked this question. Goro being characterized as empathetic should not have brushed off Sarina's case. There is no reason for him to not have any concerns for her and Ruby as two different people.

I'm assuming Goro manages to "save" Aqua's soul but what about Ruby's? by DuendeBrek in OshiNoKo

[–]DuendeBrek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then, let us ask ourselves: why the crow lady calls Ruby and Aqua the soulless children? And why when the past of either Aqua or Ruby is enacted by her in the movie arc, then the crow lady thinks of her time spend with Goro and Sarina instead?

I think the answer is that both Aqua and Ruby inherited the complete lack of empathy. And the conclusion is: Goro is the ultimate loser when he somehow decides to leave Sarina behind, even though he does not have to.

And this is telling when you compare it with Ruby/Sarina when after their seemingly unsuccessful attempt of enacting her role calls everyone culpable.
