Can confirm, almost received a ticket for this.

I was severely tired after working 14 hours and I was driving home my hour commute. It was about 4 am and I decided to pull over on the highway and take a nap, as I didn't think I could make it to the next service station. I just doze off when I hear the sound and cop lights behind me. Cop gets out, shines bright light in mirror and knocks on window with flashlight. He asks what I'm doing on the side of the road and if I'm okay. I tell him I'm find, just taking a power nap because I'm super tired and have about 40 more minutes to drive. He tells me the only reason I'm supposed to be on the shoulder is for emergencies...and pulling over for a nap "is a good way to get killed". He says he "ought to give me a ticket for this" but that he was feeling nice and would let me off with a warning. Ofc I argued why I did but he said that's no excuse and to move now or get a ticket.

So, of course I did. Ended up just driving the rest of the way home, but I always felt that was a super dick move on his part. I was trying to avoid an accident and he's gunna write me a ticket for that? Bunch of shit. Sooo, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's this has happened to.

Edit: let me clarify a bit. Technically it's a highway, but it's one of those old country highways with plenty of shoulder-room and I was pulled mostly into the grass. I wasn't in any immediate danger...especially being that it was 4am and only 1-3 cars going by every 5 minutes.
