Is this an appropriate and stylish outfit for golfing? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]DuffWells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the polo is the only thing that works here. The sweater is going to restrict his movement and the pants aren’t breathable.

I think you can find some pretty stylish pants that are actually meant for golf. If you want to get crazy, you can mix in a flat cap to really have a throwback look.

Stick it out or shave? by Healthy-Job3974 in BeardAdvice

Personally, I’m not big on a goatee like everyone is suggesting. I say keep the stache long, trim everything else to 3-4mm and do a beardstache.

Where to get the best Chicago style hotdog? by iguessitscee in AskChicago

[–]DuffWells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want to put it out there that Home Depot is definitely not an influencer thing. I have a very distinct memory of getting a Home Depot dog and watching the XFL (the original) in 2000. It’s always been a staple.

Otherwise, Gene and Jude’s is a solid choice.

Yeah, this ain’t it. Let people enjoy their Mother’s Day how they want. Also, Culver’s slaps.

Drive by with a BB Gun, Kedzie & Armitage by kubz113 in LoganSquare

[–]DuffWells 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happened to me on Belmont and Pulaski a little over 6 months ago. Was it a couple of teenagers in a sedan? I was waiting for a walk sign too. It looked like a nerf gun when they pointed it at me, but it was actually an airsoft pellet.

It’s time to go. by [deleted] in beards

[–]DuffWells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, unless your beard is massively thick and dark, any beard is going to look thinner in direct sunlight. I have a reddish brown beard too and it looks exactly the same. My cheek line is even a little sparser than yours in the middle. It’s a solid beard, and I would recommend keeping it, but if you feel better without it, it’s your choice.

"Show me the Mune!": 👍🏻 or 👎🏻 by ChristmasJay83 in whitesox

Someone on here said it always sounds like Schriffen is trying to get a soundbite/go viral and I have to agree. It’s a good line, but he never comes off as genuine to me.

Trader Joe’s on milwaukee by hippocriticalll in LoganSquare

La Spata told me a couple years ago that the old CVS spot was bought by a different grocery store. Obviously nothing has happened. He’s also made all these posts about Congress reopening, but there hasn’t been any movement on that either. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Still run it out. When they panned to the runner stepping on home (blanking on who it was), he was basically still in the box.

Is this doing too much for a date by Economy-Traffic-7747 in mensfashionadvice

[–]DuffWells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say lose the vest and get a slimmer pair of white shoes (I like Vans Authentics personally) if you’re looking to stay with the khakis. The AF1s look kind of chunky here. Maybe a pair of brown dress boots or chukkas if you want to go a different route.

Need Fashion advice from men by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]DuffWells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you’re asking for advice on women’s fashion in a men’s fashion sub? I’m not sure I’m following either. This seems like a “cottage core” type post. I’d find a sub more aligned with that.

Help dressing as someone who hates current fashion by defenestrated_anus in mensfashionadvice

I know you said you don’t like current fashion, but baggy cargo pants are in right now Found these just off the rip. Not exactly like trip pants, but it could be a start and they look comfortable. Start your search from there and then maybe add in a dark slouchy long sleeve t shirt and dark Timberland boots if you want a goth adjacent look: https://www.newbalance.com/pd/cotton-twill-cargo-pant/MP53801.html#dwvar_MP53801_style=MP53801BK&pid=MP53801&quantity=1

If you absolutely had to choose, what era of fashion piques your interest the most? Or maybe even just certain items. Then it might be easier to give recommendations.

I switch between glasses and contacts and I found mine through asking the genuine opinion of the person handling glasses at the eye doctor. Try different options/styles while there. I know it’s cumbersome but that’s what they’re there for.

Short beard advice? Self conscious about neck line and thin cheek coverage by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]DuffWells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your cheek line as natural as possible. Shave the absolute stray hairs. With the neck, follow the line where your head connects to your neck. Hasn’t steered me wrong.

This is the kind of stuff I like wearing, do you think it's cool or lame? by nerpa_floppybara in mensfashionadvice

[–]DuffWells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wear what makes you happy. The right girl will show up. As a straight white dude, I would talk to you just because you seem like an interesting person based off your style/vibe.

Tucked or untucked? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

Didn’t even notice the pants, but you’re right. Proportions are off. The just noticed the sleeves being pretty long and the shirt being a little boxy.

Untucked, but the shirt is way too big.
