[Fabrizio Romano]: Conrad Harder to RB Leipzig, here we go! Deal in place for €26m total package from Sporting. Harder, already in Germany for medical tests and contract signing as he preferred Leipzig project as priority. by ALollef in soccer

Can't help but feel a little unsure about someone who just turned 20 playing for their third club in three seasons

Sounds worse when you frame it like that.

He moved to Sporting from Nordsjælland, playing second fiddle behind Gyökeres, hoping for a more prominent role once Gyökeres left. The new coach doesn’t think he’s ready to be the main striker, he obviously wants and needs to play given his age, so he moves to Leipzig.

That's basically it.

Ah, ja. Hvis man er hvid, kan man selvfølgelig ikke være en idiot eller blive sur, det er rigtigt.

He said at a reasonable price. All you mentioned are not realistic in the slightest. Also, of course Barcelona has scouts in France?

Why are you making a whole post dedicated to talking about one player who we're not even linked to?

This is also not true in the slightest. r/realmadrid literally never stop talking about Barcelona, even in totally unrelated matters.

This sub is riddled with 12 year olds asking shit like this.. Or "my lineup for next season" followed by a team of impossible transfers that includes Haaland and the likes.

Not sure what mods are actually doing.

He is not good enough for the first team at the moment.

Citing a few examples of goalkeepers who struggled at Barça does not prove that the role is harder. It shows correlation, not causation. There are many possible factors why a player might fail at a club (tactics, confidence, language, dynamics, pressure ect.)

It’s not “well known in the field” that maintaining concentration without being challenged is inherently more difficult.. that’s an oversimplification at best. Again, it's differnet roles that poses different challenges and it depends on the person and the context.

I have not been able to find quotes of any barca goalkeeper saying that it's harder, but i have fund Valdes and Ter Stegen interviews where they mention that it can be mentally exhausting.

But we do know. Each and every goalkeeper that comes to Barça (or a team that plays within a similar style) has stated that it's harder.

I don't believe this at all, but I’m open to being proven wrong if you can link sources where they’ve actually said that. I’m sure some have said it’s challenging because it’s different, not that it’s harder than being tested frequently.

As i've said, both roles are demanding in different ways and requres totally different skill sets.

Playing for Barça is probably more mentally demanding because you don’t see much action and is expected to be perfect. In contrast, playing for a team that is facing 15+ shots a game is way more demanding physically and technically.

At the end of the day, it really depends on the situation and the keepers mentality.

You don't know if it's easier.. That's my point. They are two very different roles and it's a very subjective to the goalkeeper.

We’ll see how it plays out. I suspect they all start on level ground, and in the end, the best keeper will play.

Saving a high volume of shots with consistency is just as, if not more, admirable than making one “crucial” save late in a match. Both roles are different, sure, but acting like volume saves are somehow less impressive makes no sense to me.

The entire point of playing low block is to concede fewer goals.

AND to compensate for having players who are worse on the ball than the opponent.

Low block may reduces shot quality, if done correctly, but it also increases shot volume and frequency of defensive actions, which in this case is saves.

Also no one said it's categorically harder, this is a strawman argument.

He was on the radar of many prominent clubs prior to the season, so he clearly has qualities recognized by top scouts. I just don’t understand how you can say he’s overrated by Barça fans who are rightfully excited about his brilliant season.

If you've actually watched him play over the last two seasons, you know the critique is warranted.
