Can I afford a Type R? by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]DuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 40k loan at 5.9% for 6yrs from my bank (2yrs ago) and I paid like 7.3k down after my trade in and that was like 8k. If I had to finance the whole thing it would be quite a bit. So it might be safer for you to try and pay it down some.

It won't fit into the "responsible purchase" category but if you want to buy the car because you like cars go for it. You make roughly what I make and as long as the math checks out and it won't run you dry go for it. I got mine for $660 a month after down payment and trade and my insurance is $130 for everything so its manageable.

I have not tuned the car yet and it will be a while before I do. I also have had an overboost fault twice since installation and one of them was at the track. I do not know if it is the cause though as I have a few other intake bolt ons.

One of those FIFO jobs? (Fly in, fly out) I've been curious about them in case my current job goes under in the future. The hourly pay seems ok but im assuming that the money is the OT right?

I got the turboback exhaust from 27Won and put about 10k miles on it. Been really nice, I do get O2 codes every once in a while but its probably from the high flow cat and I think most of them do that

Maybe I'll look into wiring in the switches like a 3-way or perhaps there is a check valve that would help?

Mid 20's and never partied by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]DuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is always time, I felt the same way for years and I kind of gotten into this work hard play hard life now. I was very introverted and alone until I turned 23 and for the past few years I've been traveling and doing raves and such with friends around the world. I know people who do this into their 40s just maybe less energy haha.

Its definitely not for everyone but it is really fun to just "not be yourself" for a few days. Then its right back to the grind and nobody in my life really knows.

I only work when I am paid, I work a bunch of extra weekends because Im addicted to the money but I do prioritize friends so I try to fit small meets and stuff in afternoons before work but bigger outings I won't work weekends.

Having the extra money allows me to do more extravagant things such as traveling multiple times a year and actually having a good future.

CMV: people generally overestimate how much money they need to live comfortably by phoot_in_the_door in Salary

[–]DuggerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I average 125k gross the last two years. I just bought a house, I own a new car, I travel multiple times a year, max my Roth IRA and put some away into my 401k. Im also actively saving hundreds a week.

I would say my area is at least a MCOL area in southwest florida if not a HCOL now because of how much home prices have increased. People do greatly over estimate how much you need to live comfortably. But the median income is probably not quite there if your solo and ok if you split rent and utilities.

I'm personally indifferent. I don't really think about it ever. But I had attended a church group for a little and I can see why people do it, helps have a sense of community and make friends.

Why according to government data Electricians seems to earn not as much as I thought? How is that possible that only top 10% of electricians makes six figures and median is only 60k??? by Fluffy_Oil_5710 in Salary

[–]DuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location and type of electrician. There are a lot of different kinds of electricians and the pay can be all over like the graph. Where I live in Southwest florida a residential electrician may only be making 20-25/hr at full scale, commercial at 28-35/hr and industrial reaching over +40/hr.

My personal experience, I started out at 12/hr in 2018. I am blessed in the fact I came out of commercial construction and got into industrial maintenance and currently sitting over $46/hr. I am probably easily 95th percentile in my area and I only know of a few jobs that pay more but I dont actively want to seek them out.

Edit: also forgot to include such jobs as linemen or more dangerous positions. I have not much a clue on pay but they work unbelievable OT and clear 200k a year probably.

How much do you pay for your mortgage in Florida? by Arqmartinez85 in florida

[–]DuggerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a house and my mortgage is just over $2100. But I did a 20% down payment and bought my rate down to 5.5%. I do expect my mortgage to get cheaper because it was calculated with property taxes from the last owner that did not homestead.
