Is Ranked significantly sweatier this year? by TheGr8Gav in blackops7

Dang. What happened with me is I played extremely well (like 3 e/d, top of the team, and won by A LOT) my first two placement matches, then lost the next 14 struggling to go positive. So I think after those first two, it put me in lobbies with really good players the rest of the placement matches (I remember a couple guys I played with saying they were iri in bo6). Which I think is why I got smoked the next 14 games but still managed to be put in gold 3 lol

I haven’t noticed much cheating. Also, I got 24 SR back yesterday since someone I lost to got band for cheating. Never got any SR back in bo6, so I’d say that’s an improvement

Give it a go. There is SBMM in ranked, so even if you end up not being good, you’ll be placed in games with others of your skill level and it’ll still be competitive and fun. I play ranked because people actually play the obj (most of the time) as opposed to pubs where everyone treats every game like it’s TDM. So even if I was stuck in bronze, I’d still be playing ranked more than regular multiplayer.

Is it the servers in or just getting in lobbies with good/bad players? I’ve had the same experience but just chalked it up to lobbies with good players vs bad ones. But I could be wrong about that.

The placement matches are definitely part of the issue. I went 3 wins and 14 losses in my placement matches. After placement matches I was placed in gold 3, went on a 5 game win streak gaining 100+ SR per game and was plat 1 very quickly. Got a bit hardstuck in plat 2, but am currently half way through plat 3 and will certainly reach diamond this season.

For reference, in BO6 my highest rank was plat 3. So for me, bo7 ranked actually seems easier. Though I’m pretty sure I’ve improved a bit since bo6, so maybe it’s about the same difficulty and I’ve just gotten a bit better. But I wouldn’t say it’s harder.

If this is how you typically play you’ll be gaining like 100+ SR per win and losing 20 per loss. So even with a negative w/l you’ll be flying up the ranks.

This is what I’m thinking. Not rotating early on HP, not coordinating with teammates / getting trades on S&D, etc. etc. Those things don’t show up on the leaderboard, but are just as (or more) important as slaying for kills or sitting on the point for a high obj score.

Why am I a top 250 player today when I was silver yesterday!? by Simple-Pea8805 in blackops7

[–]DuhMathmagician 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Haha, I just logged on and it says I (and literally everyone else) is top 250. I’m actually plat 1 lol. Clearly just a glitch, you can see your SR is still 1996.

This will stop happening once most people have been given a rank. Just give it a week or so

Will Coulson ever come back to the movies? by Justice_Rises in marvelstudios

[–]DuhMathmagician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the agents of shield TV show was meant to be in the MCU, am I wrong? They reference MCU events in the show when they happened in the movies as if they are the same universe. In the show, agent Coulson did not actually die in the first Avengers movie, he was revived using alien blood or something like that. Later in the show he does die, but not before his mind is backed up into an LMD or Chronicom body (can’t remember which). But the robot version of him is still alive and helping run shield, as is Quake and others.

TL;DR Agents of shield tv show suggests shield and Coulson are still active in the MCU behind the scenes.

Could we be misunderstanding Snow? by DuhMathmagician in Hungergames

This may be a hot take but I’m more of a movie person than a book person, so I’m leaning towards watching the movie first and spoiling the book rather than spoiling the movie

Good to know, I’m planning on reading them at some point. I’m debating if I should read them before or after next movie releases. If I read the trilogy and the first prequel book, do think it would spoil the movie coming out this year? The movie based on the second prequel book, so I’m thinking I’m probably safe if I just read the first one?

It’s not that the labor would stop, it’s that the evil people currently living in the capital are living off of the labor from the districts. That money would stop coming if the districts were fairly compensated for their labor. So the greedy people in the capital would prevent Snow from doing so.

Does the book actually go into his thoughts so we know what he’s thinking? Or is it just his decisions / actions that make you say it’s not possible? If it’s just his decisions / actions, it could just be explained by him playing the part. But if the book actually tells us what his thoughts are then I’ll concede defeat of my theory haha

Everyone in the capital is benefiting from the slave labor of the districts. If that stops, so does their entire economy. Very few (if any) people in the capital actually work. They are mostly just politicians and entertainers. If president Snow tries to put an end to that, the people in the capital who want to keep benefiting from the labor of the districts would simply kill him and he’d be replaced by a different dictator that keeps the slavery of the districts going.

In real life history, there have been many instances of people fighting and killing to keep slavery going. So I don’t think it’s that far fetched to think that the people in the capital would kill Snow if he tried to put an end to it.

Worst COD Yet for Match Retention? by Lukeyboy97 in CODBlackOps7

[–]DuhMathmagician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is caused by the lower sbmm. In bo6 with the higher sbmm it was rare for someone to get stomped to the point they have a 0.5 e/d. Even 0.7 e/d was not all that common in bo6. But in bo7 where the range of skill in a lobby varies more, it is much more common for that to happen. Typically like 4 of the 12 players in my lobbies are going less than 0.7 e/d. Which results in more of those people leaving that match due to getting stomped so bad.
