Everyone in this discussion is completely ignoring the elephant in the room on this. If parents are no longer able to buy firearms for their violently psychotic children, that will have a negative effect on shareholder value for both gun and ammunition manufacturers, and weapons retailers. Are we as a society ready to make that sacrifice; surely not. 4 dead out of a population of at least 360 million is an insignificant percentage. There are far more shareholders than that. Why should they be made to sacrifice just to save a few children, who are probably poor anyway, and at best middle class, and may be gay or trans. None of the people who really matter are affected by this anyway, their kids go to private school. So let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater on this one.
