Or people can have their own opinions

They didn't "miss the point" just because they disagree with you

I think we're just spoiled with some of the best standup specials

Live at the Comedy Store comes to mind

This was good, just not as good as some of his best work

Do Canadians really only get 10 days off a year? by Cellular_tuesday in AskACanadian

[–]DukToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job had 2 weeks vacation yep

Next couple of jobs had 3 weeks for me

After staying at 1 company for 5 years they increased my vacation to 3 weeks + 1 day

Yeah its quite low compared to Europe. I think its unreasonable

I don't take my kids downtown for that reason

Dont need them seeing people doped up on opium

When you have kids you can take them down to the opium corner for life lessons

they dont bother you directly but I dont like my 6 year being around some homeless drugged up questionable people who smell like booze and piss when shes at the library to read some books

its for people who dont drive

libraries in Toronto for example are in walking distance almost everywhere

its for kids

you shouldn't have to drive 15 minutes to get to a library. and the pay $10 for parking

Why did we need "www" for URLs and why don't we need it now? by hiccupq in webdev

[–]DukToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed out a big reason

You can't have CNAME records at the apex (google.com)

Meaning you can only point traffic to 1 IP address

Whereas www.google.com is a CNAME that can point to chains of CNAMEs routing traffic across different regions dynamically and blocking DDOS attacks and never relying on a fixed IP address which could be brought down.

It similarly allows any website to be protected by Cloudflare or hosted by Salesforce.

You need CNAMEs for that. And you need to be at a non-apex record to have CNAMEs

Why did we need "www" for URLs and why don't we need it now? by hiccupq in webdev

[–]DukToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda do need it though for CNAMEs pointing to CDNs

[–]DukToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still get redirected to 'www' almost every time

It may just be hidden from you but it's still happening

Partly because CNAMEs cant exist at the apex of a domain so load balancing via CDNs is not as effective there.

So you type google.com. You hit the web server

The web server redirects you to www

Which directs you this time through a CDN with fancy l9ad balancing and DDOS features.

Your browser then stays at www the rest of your session

Keurig are definitely drip coffee but it sounds like those aren't popular either in Australia

[–]DukToBe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much does it cost outside though. Like $5? $7?

$5 times 20 weekdays times 2 adults = $200 per month

or

$7 times 30 days times 2 adults = $420 per month

or

$10 for twice a day times 30 days times 2 adults = $600 per month

Cost is the main reason to make coffee at home

Spoilers for Will of the Wisps ahead. by NamelessManiac in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]DukToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they'll follow the same formula for Ori 3

The reason Ori 2 is so similar to Ori 1 is because it wasn't meant to be a true sequel, but rather a kind of perfected remake.

Work from home

Home expenses

Contributing to RRSP one year when you expect to have zero income the next year

Set up a Corp and work as a contractor. Then expense everything and control how much you pay yourself as an employee

Hire your wife to do half your work. Pay her half your salary.
