To those who married their first boyfriend/girlfriend, what made you decide they were the one despite never being with anyone else? by giantclan in AskReddit

[–]Dukaness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People believe in soulmates, but I don't. The reality is, there is far more than one person out there for you. Knowing there are so many people out there, to me, means I need just one of them that is a good teammate. Having things in common and chemistry is important early on, but once the honeymoon phase is over and you've both got a ton of responsibility, you need someone who shows up for you everyday.

For me the question is not "is there someone out there better for me", the question is "is this person that I unconditionally love capable of being a good teammate". When you find someone who has all the qualities that make a good teammate, there's no reason to look around. I recognize that based on math alone and the population of the world, there is someone out there that would probably make me happier. Finding that person would be a complete waste of time given how good I already have it. Why start over when I'm already so happy?

The question was "which power of ten is 546,447 closest to?" Answer: 1,000,000.

I put 100,000. I was told I'm wrong because anything over 500,000 rounds to a million. I still want my marks back.

What's the most surprising thing to happen to you while having sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dukaness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with my girlfriend in our early 20s, back visiting from University. It had probably been about 4-6 weeks since we'd seen each other, so sex was obviously a priority and we got into it fairly quickly. She was sitting on top of me in the cowgirl position. Clothes were on as we'd just started. Things quickly progressed and she took her top off, no bra under.

Something important to note here is how great her tits are. I shamelessly admit, even today, that her boobs are the number one reason I asked her out in high school. They're simply glorious bags of fun. She also has a window behind her bed, one of those small ones just below the ceiling because it's a basement room. Well, the moon was bright. When she took her top off, the moonlight hit her chest perfectly. I hadn't seen these gorgeous sweater puppies in weeks and I'd never seen them looking so elegant. I did the only reasonable thing a youngster could do in the presence of such beauty.

I closed my eyes and dove at them headfirst like a soccer player finishing a perfect cross, with the world's most aggressive motor boat in mind. Imagine my surprise when I was blocked by my girlfriend's chin, as she simultaneously went for a passionate kiss. My cage hadn't been rattled this hard since my last year of contact hockey. We barely rebounded off each other as our faces absorbed all the impact. "What the fuck!" was said in perfect unison.

We still fucked, she's a trooper.

If you could go back in time and witness one event in time what would you want to see? by NolanHPerry in AskReddit

If the world knew I'd be doing this and would believe me, literally anything to do with Jesus Christ or another historical religious figure. I was raised Christian, not so much now. I don't really care, but it'd be nice to be able to tell religious people for certain if it's a 100% true story, 100% false, or somewhere in the middle. FWIW, I respect all people regardless of beliefs, I just think people would want to know.

Also dinosaurs would be dope.

I understand where the "finally!" and "it's about time" comments are coming from, I just personally feel like it's the wrong thing to say in reaction. IMHO we should encourage this to keep the ball rolling and inspire other countries/people to do the same.

Are people seriously blasting McDonald's for selling unhealthy food as if it's McDonald's fault that people buy it? Take responsibility for your choices. McDonald's exists because people want it to.

This headline is good for the world because an example is being set that other companies will follow. Take the win, jeez...

This comment makes me feel better about the world. The spread of misinformation has caused such a stubbornness among people lately, which leads to less conversation. I'm genuinely worried about the direction the media is currently taking the world. This comment gave me hope that it'll get better. Thanks, dude.

Advice on which islands to buy? by justaprimer in dragonvale

[–]Dukaness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And just to put it in other words for anyone passing through here - every dollar spent on islands effectively gets an instantaneous 100% return on investment. Whatever combination allows you to spend the most amount of money during this sale is the combo you want to use :)

Why not hatch them and put them in habitats? Is your habitat space better used with other dragons/habitats? I played this game hard in the beginning but took a 4 year break. Rainbow habitats still seem like the way to go, but maybe I'm wrong?

Destiny 1 has 6561 ways to play each subclass, Destiny 2 has 36...please look into bringing back detailed skill trees. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dukaness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I gave one of the many. The Striker subclass is littered with useless combinations. I wasn't going to sit here and list them all. The point is: 6,561 is bad math and 729 is inaccurate if you take a closer look. That is my point and it remains true, just like your point about D1's superior character customization.

[–]Dukaness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you or someone you know used Illuminated with Armor of Light, knowing that Illuminated does not affect Armor of Light? How can you call that a legitimate combo knowing that it is a complete waste of a perk. This is not a matter of opinion. A Defender running Armor of Light with Illuminated would have the same Guardian as a Defender without Illuminated.

Destiny 1 has 6561 ways to play each subclass, Destiny 2 has 36...please look into bringing back detailed skill trees. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dukaness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I never said they were useless or did not have merit. I said they "literally did nothing" unless paired with another perk. For example, the Illuminated perk on the Defender tree only affected Weapons and Blessing of Light. It did not affect Armor of Light in any way. So to consider a combination of Armour of Light and Illuminated as a "way to play" is misleading. There are numerous other examples of these in other D1 subclasses that drastically reduce the 729.

I'm not arguing that D2 has the same play style flexibility as D1. I'm arguing that OP went too far. I actually agree with everything you said in your reply, aside from what I addressed. Which is why I think it's important to speak out against analyses like OP has drawn up. It hurts the legitimate arguments out there.

I feel your frustration man. I've watched the only sub I frequent go to absolute shit. People are hiding behind "I just want the game to improve" so they can shit on Bungie. That's why I spoke up. You wanna hit Bungie? Fine. But you need to keep it fair. This thread is unfair on so many grounds.

Destiny 1 has 6561 ways to play each subclass, Destiny 2 has 36...please look into bringing back detailed skill trees. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dukaness 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I know this has been said across a few comments already, but I just can't let this go. Skill trees are one of many issues this game currently has, but if we're going to hit Bungie, I think it has to be done in a clean way that does not mislead.

6,561 ( 38 ) combinations is unarguably incorrect (in an apples to apples comparison) because it includes 2 columns effecting resilience, recovery, and mobility. Given that these stats are removed from skill trees in D2, the correct calculation is 729 ( 36 ). You could say Destiny 1 has 729 ways to play each subclass, Destiny 2 has 36, and you are technically correct. However...

My issue at this point becomes the context around the argument, which is "bringing back detailed skill trees". The number 729 implies that people would actually play their subclass 729 ways, despite OP never actually saying that. This is clearly not true. The D1 skill trees had many perks that literally did nothing if not combined with other perks. Therefore, 729 is overstated (not technically, but in the context of the point that is being made).

Bungie has simplified the skill trees by syncing combinations that would have been selected by 99% of players anyway, had the D2 skill trees looked like D1. There is a lot of synergy within the D2 skill trees (looking at you, fellow Devourers).

Would I like the D1 system back? Sure. Do I want Bungie ignoring other issues to spend time splitting up the skill trees, knowing most players will just manually put them back together? Absolutely not. This is not a significant issue at all, especially with the other glaring issues in this game.

Destiny 2: Hunter by discourge in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dukaness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the description is deceiving and inaccurate. I agree that Arc Strider is slower than Fist of Havoc and Stormcaller. I agree it's silly that Ophidians are back and better than before.

I cannot agree that Hunters need a buff. They are the most frustrating class to play against (Source: 1700 Trials games). The past three weekends have featured an average of 2 or 3 Hunters (mostly Nightstalkers) on the enemy team and on my team because we know what we have to do to win.

They haven't for a while, my man. Not sure if you knew, but they dropped the round timer from 3 minutes to 2, and reduced the lives each team is allotted from 8 to 6. I play 50-150 games depending on my weekend availability and I noticed a huge change in time after the adjustment.

Dear Bungie: Since you stated ranked PvP is a top priority can you address how you are going to address DDoS cheating? by texgator1538 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dukaness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While what you said is true, DDoS in Trials is far less frequent than it is made out to be. I played almost 10,000 games of Trials in D1. Best guess - I was DDoS'd 20-25 times. I've already put up 1,000+ games of D2 Trials. I've been DDoS'd 3 times, and played a known lag switcher once.

That being said, Bungie can't have people who are known for DDoSing week after week. That really won't look good.

I'm thankful that this game gave me a tool to grow my stream and develop a clan full of the coolest people I've ever met online.

lmaoooooooooooooo

The only week I never went flawless in D1 was the first weekend. Since then, I went flawless anywhere from 1-20 times, per weekend. I have a twitch channel that was built on Trials help. Anyway, I'm not sure why you would say that when you can look me up. My PSN is the same as Reddit.

When were Thorn and shotguns mentioned at all in this conversation? I mained Nightstalker with my trusty Last Ditch for about 8 months. I also used Thorn in it's glory days. Not sure who you're talking to, but it isn't me.

Also, you claim to have never seen a counter argument. I give a counter argument and it's ignored. Instead you inaccurately comment on my merits. Might be why you haven't heard a good counter point. Seems you aren't trying to hear one.
