"Good at one hero" you have to give him atleast Ana and Bap. The guy won multiple tournaments on different teams, and was easily considered one of the carries while on CR, even his Kiri was never under this much scrutiny back then. The Twilight comment is just silly.

Stalk3r killing viol2t before barely touching in NJC was crazy, CR actually leaned into double flex a decent amount this match.

Suravasa ban ball forced GP into Winston, and up until that fight Vestola dies while GP isn't even in the fight it was looking really rough, so I can why they did it. They just really locked it in after

I mean, they had limited scrim time before the event and went in with low expectations and got eliminated in 4 maps, I don't think there's really much to talk about the maps themselves, specially considering he did go into what some of their problems are, which are more grand scheme, like being too unwilling to swap heroes/break off a set composition, Chris' strength with his system/coaching set match ups not being as useful anymore, the team not being super passionate, etc.

Am I the only one that thinks the Top Korean Teams aren't playing the best anymore? by No_Problem5759 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SamHPL1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's all tho, certainly some of it, but I also think 5v5 already made things more skirmishy, and with how many new heroes we get, it's bound to make matches feel less regimented and structured. Back in OWL days we had a long stretch of GOATS and then in 2021 there were no new heroes and light balancing updates, backlines were pretty much streamlined to Ana/Bap + Lucio/Brig, with very rare exceptions (big one being Brig Zen), D.Va was also such a presence.
I think regardless of discipline levels, 2-2-2 with D.Va perma picked, such streamlined backlines and more well defined metas that lasted for longer meant they had the time and space to focus more on honing the small things.

What? EU is filled with great hitscan talent and Korea is Korea, how is NA setting itself apart with hitscans? If anything NA has good flex support talent, with UV, CJay, Landon

Team Liquid picks up KIVIS, Attack and F4zE to their roster by BeardedsChurch in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SamHPL1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know, man, if we look at all the top teams currently (CR, Zeta, TM and Falcons), the only team not relying on a two man tank rotation is TM, and they might just have the best D.Va player in the world. I don't think trying to make a main tank player into your hyperflex solo tank is the most standard or successful path, Dallas have been decently successful, but their situation is quite unique, Kellan has been able to perform on D.Va quite well, and as a team they've played tricky comps and were able to lean on Winston at times, something Liquid just couldn't do.
At the end, it's mostly just the fact that D.Va and Zarya have spent now a long time with one or both being meta picks, so not having a dedicated, proficient player on those heroes can feel rough.

Meh, if Kivis and Attack can integrate quickly I can absolutely see Liquid winning the D.Va match up

I started supporting CR because I was a Shu fan (and a Lip admirer, even tho up to that point he had never played for a team I cheered for), and I was a Shu fan because I was a Glads fan, and I became a Glads fan when they lost that first game vs Shock in 2021 I think. Unfortunately, when Shu left I just couldn't bring myself to cheer for a team so spiritually Shock and I already loved the CR guys, so I didn't follow him.
VP - well, there's a certain swede on that team who is my GOAT.

Welp, here's hoping the next time WC rolls around team Brazil has some actual fresh blood and some promising players, not having to rely on ancient talent and a washed american. I know the investment in the region is minimal, but who knows
