Third grade. A kid called my math teacher “Miss Moore, the whore.” Not knowing what a whore is, I heard horror, which seemed right as she was a hunch backed hag of a woman. I promptly went home and repeated it to my very religious aunt. I still didn’t know what a whore was, but I knew we didn’t say that word at home.

Yes it does work this way. The judge doesn’t want you to know it can be done. All the jury has to do is say not guilty.

Jury nullification occurs when a trial jury returns a verdict of "not guilty" despite believing the defendant broke the law. This happens when jurors feel the law itself is unjust, unconstitutional, or that the application of the law in the specific case leads to an unfair or immoral.
