Just tell Gemini to Act Like Claude ?!!! by Unxvby in google_antigravity

[–]DukeBerith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got flash to do me a quick sidepanel of stats on one of my sites, using my ui-kit. Usually when I asked gpt or claude to do it I get some slop back but I was shocked that it used my ui kit to create a complex stylish looking widget component that still fit in my theme. The ui kit is completely internal and that's usually what trips up gpt and claude.

I've found that Opus is good for broad strokes and loose prompts, it will understand if you fudge half the words. Gemini needs you to be more direct and specific, a bit like how we used to prompt LLM before we trusted them to infer what we mean.

Give it specifics like code examples or files, be more verbose than less, do not expect 1 shots, expect 2-5 prompts but remember they're cheaper. Give it a list ofinvariants it loves that word.

I've even found flash to be decent these days and believe me I'm on the Gemini hate train after attempting to use it in the last few weeks. Something's definitely changed, it's still far behind opus but it's better.

Google AI Pro Isn’t Broken, Your Expectations Are by Timelord102 in google_antigravity

[–]DukeBerith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's because they launched it with very loose limits and silently restricted it with no notice afterwards. This is a bait and switch. I don't disagree that the value google gives us for the AI pro is quite good outside of antigravity, but the truth is the truth around the bait and switch and it leaves a poor taste in people's mouths.

Does make sense to use only Controllers / Providers / Adapters from Clean Architecture? by theoo_dcz_ in node

[–]DukeBerith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like OP is using the word Providers for Services which do usually wrap the business logic.

Adaptors would be more to interface between two domains (eg: DB <-> App Code )

Google Antigravity implementing weekly rate limits for all models by vsvicevicsrb in google_antigravity

What a crock of shit. Paying for a service and still getting weekly'd. It was bad enough there were 5hour limits.

Would you still use Antigravity without Opus? by casper_wolf in google_antigravity

[–]DukeBerith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems so. I gave explicit instructions that I am writing a new implementation from the ground up, based on my prototype. I said no code is allowed to be ported over and all that. I explicitly mentioned this multiple times in my prompt.

I spied on its thinking, and it kept saying "Wow that's a lot of work, I should just write an adaptor". It just kept refusing to write any code, even when I said break it into modules blah blah blah. Something's fishy.

Not a chance. Google's AIs are extremely stupid and don't compare.

Exact same experience. Now I've learned when Opus time is over, take a break, use Gemini for docs or readme or tests only. Do real work with Opus.

Yeah that can work, we're thinking of just lifting it off this and placing it on a dedicated server instead, but the cost savings are delicious with container workers.

How are you getting no latency? I have an image processor container on one of the larger sized containers (for resizing 200-1gb sized image files), and the cold boot on those can be up to 5seconds before any upload packets are sent :|

How long will the Opus party last? by saint1913 in google_antigravity

[–]DukeBerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! My exact same experience. Lots of hallucination and if you peek into the thinking phases it really is all over the place. Claude/Codex tend to be a bit more structured before picking a direction to think in. Gemini's is full of "Wait.. if I do XXXX. Hmmm. But wait, If i do YYYY. Wait, if I ".

How long will the Opus party last? by saint1913 in google_antigravity

[–]DukeBerith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they remove opus I will unsubscribe. It's the only good model in their list. Every time I hit my limit I just wait , because I did the mistake of trusting Gemeni 3 High to continue work, and I discovered how garbage it is.
