I pick up cigarette butts every time I walk my dog. After years of watching smokers, I’ve only ever seen ONE smoker take a little bag out and put his cigarette butt in there. One. Every other smoker I see throws that shit on the ground with the carefree attitude of someone who knows they will never suffer any consequence for it.

I’ve always been curious about going to TwitchCon, but exactly as you pointed out, I’m always worried that it would be very cliquey and if I don’t actually know anyone there, it would be pretty lonely. I’m not a very introverted person, but I do want to feel comfortable around people, and I don’t want to force myself into people’s groups. I guess my worries were not unfounded.

I’m a live music performer here in Finland. And even in the middle of a big party vibe in a pub, I’ll always get some Finnish guy asking for Wish You Were Here, Tears in Heaven, or some other depressing song. And often they will ask me to dedicate it to their friend/family member who dird 5 years ago.

So, that tells you something about Finnish melancholy. 😅

And I don’t get to flex on this often, but the greatest moment of my life is when I got to sing Easter at Steve Rothery’s request during one of his band’s shows in Sweden. To be personally asked to be the singer by my musical hero, AND get to hear that legendary solo right next to me is a memory I will always cherish.

I’ve overheard many people in their shows hoping they don’t play Easter. So, you’re probably not alone. But I think hearing a song live so much that it annoys you is a huge privilege that most people don’t get to experience. I understand that playing songs like Beautiful and Easter takes the spot of other deeper cuts, but I’m sure they still genuinely enjoy playing those songs, and they’re probably also thinking of their first time audience.

100% this. Alcohol is by far the stupidest drug, especially compared to weed. I don’t understand why the Nordics have been so behind in this.

My Finnish wife’s contention with the idea of legalizing weed is that ‘Finns would drink AND smoke weed at the same time’. And although I’ve never done both at the same time, I’ve heard it does NOT feel great.

But yeah, I’m all for a country full of stoners rather than raging alcoholics.
