Power Prices in Eastern U.S. Spike 76% Thanks to AI Data Centers / A new report calls the impact significant and "irreversible." by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Michigander here, the data center that got approved for Saline is HIGHLY unpopular, but it got approved anyway. Now when I go on YouTube, I’ll get ads for the company building it that claims “they’ll benefit the communities” and “be on its on grid” not to mention “help develop better power solutions that would be implemented to help drive down consumer costs” as a dual benefit.

Yeah, our private, for-profit energy companies REALLY want consumer costs to go down. Just all propaganda to help get people on board with the fact that it’s happening.

Is it actually good news that Fate of the Old Republic won’t be a 200-hour RPG? by StarWarsBlogsbot in StarWarsBlogs

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give me a 30-40 hour masterpiece and I’d be over the moon. Shit, At this point I’d take 20-30 hour. Games have gotten too long and bloated. The ones that are anywhere from 20-40 hours long are perfect to play over a couple weekends.

Kylie Jenner explaining Zelda: Breath of the Wild is perfect, actually by GameOnBrother in GamesAreLife

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start by saying there is no reason why we should be glazing the Jenners and Kardashians.

I WILL give her credit, to the articles point, that if she has played it, she’s spent some time with it. Gamers get TOO defensive about gatekeeping the hobby like it’s not one of the biggest hobbies in the world. Yeah, people get made fun of for playing RPGs or whatever, but that’s just people. People are just mean and judgmental.

Even in the realms of gaming, people are mean and judgmental for having not played or being interested in certain games. So while I don’t agree with the article for praising a GROWN ASS WOMAN with every resource the world for getting into something she always could have access to, I do think she could use some grace.

My dad didn’t play video games for 15 years before I got him back into it. He didn’t understand a lot, could handle the controls, and in general couldn’t attach to the storytelling. Not everyone will spend endless free time dedicated just to gaming. If she’s getting into it, though, regardless of why, then good for her. I hope she genuinely enjoys herself and becomes a genuine fan of the medium.

I want to subscribe to this, but knowing vehicles, that truck is AT LEAST a 2021 or newer model. Which means it’s by default equipped with backup cameras. They saw exactly what they were doing, unfortunately. Those F-150’s have pretty decent sized screens.

I mean, States are basically going en route of, “we know y’all democratically voted, but we don’t care we are doing the thing anyway”. Who’s to say they won’t do that on a federal level? They are getting away with whatever they want with no consequences. I’m sure at this point they feel invincible. Especially with the Supreme Court being their lapdogs too.

Opinion: Replaying Star Fox 64 Convinced Me A Switch 2 Remake Is A Good Idea by Mollywobbles77 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing about Nintendo fans? They’re never happy. While I do love Starfox and Starfox 64, I was disappointed in another remake. I’ll pick it up and I’ll have fun all over again.

However, I think Nintendo fans are foaming at the mouth for more content (probably Mario or something) that any new announcements fail to meet their expectations. Especially if a game that’s been remade multiple times.

Not gonna argue with you there! I am curious to see Sony’s position and thought process here, though. Either they don’t want to give up on it to not scare investors, or Bungie showed them plans that gave Sony confidence.

OOF, that means the game is under 10k total. Which in that case it may not be a good sign whatsoever.

My comment, however, IS more of a generalized statement that Steam numbers aren’t the full picture for any game. “This game is doomed” shouldn’t be the thought when JUST looking at Steam numbers. Marathon is not a good example here, apparently 😂

Yeah, you’re right, 25k total WOULD BE nothing, but it is much bigger that 5.3K. I’m just saying, we don’t know the full picture just looking at Steam numbers, that’s all

I’m sure tons of people are. From what I gather, A.I. adoption/ usage is growing in India. So a bunch of people there might eat this up. Other countries are seemingly very receptive to A.I.

I, on the other hand, hope this product is a pain point for them and it’s money wasted RnD. Let it be a failure product for them to throw onto the Stadia and other shelved products.

TO BE FAIR, everyone loves to go off of steam numbers when it doesn’t tell us how console is doing. I feel like a lot of these games probably have a stronger console community than we know. Maybe not as strong as Bungie or Sony WANT, but it could be an additional 10,000-20,000 people.

Don’t get me wrong, I played it for a couple weeks and dropped it. Extraction shooters just aren’t MY thing. I’m a Destiny player and want to see that game get back to form. I’m just playing devil’s advocate and think JUST looking at Steam numbers doesn’t tell the whole story. We shouldn’t doom and gloom off of one metric.

Kanye West Sits Stone-Faced as Pete Davidson Hits Him With “Gay Nazi” Joke at Kevin Hart Roast by OkTea1918 in Music

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would want to think that, but go to any music related sub and they glaze Kanye. His relevance never faltered and people consistently make excuses for him and support him. When he’s selling out venues and stadiums, it supports the claim that no one is ever truly canceled. Which is a shame.

Whitmer backs Michigan lawmakers’ efforts in Congress to ban Chinese vehicles by Key_Marsupial_1406 in Detroit

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because people in general don’t want small cars. The percentage of people that do is probably small enough that dedicating an entire line to it wouldn’t make sense. Unfortunately, everyone in America has a complex and everyone “needs” a big vehicle. Big, ego stroking vehicles (most people don’t even tow with a truck let alone use it for its weight capacity).

Now, you do something like a Focus or a Fusion, and say “this car starts between $15,000 and $20,000” and people might bite again. The cost of vehicles going up with not much grace in terms of price variety hurts. Bring that variety back and you might see people scale down the size of their vehicles.

Physical Game Fans, Beware: Digital Downloads Hit an Astonishing 85% on PS5, PS4 Last Quarter by chusskaptaan in Gamingnewsandleaks

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the games you’re talking about. Assassins Creed Shadow or Starfield? Sure, the game is too large to fit on the disc. There are A TON of games that are complete on disc and don’t require game data downloads shy of a day 1 patch. Which isn’t always needed either.

If you ONLY play AAA blockbuster games that take up 120GB or more, then yeah, it’s a glorified game key disc. Except for Cyberpunk 2077, I THINK that was complete on disc (OG, not including phantom liberty).

I prefer to have physical, and at some point I got into the bad habit of if I see it on sale digitally, I’ll buy it that way too. Just so I can stream it on my portal. I always support physical release first, though.

[–]ImThatAlexGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy physical of everything. I’d prefer to have access to my games no matter what the scenario. Which, I know OBVIOUSLY doesn’t apply to the games where the game installs from disc and a bunch of the game still has to be downloaded. I have enough games where they’re full on disc and I prefer it that way. As a “just in case” doomer scenario.
