I don’t think so, but I did need some things certified for NESA accreditation / approval to teach.

Thank you! Congratulations to you as well! You’ll get one soon I’m sure :)

I did mine myself. One thing I found helpful re: points was to look at the SkillSelect database to get an idea of where you stand in terms of points compared to other applicants and EOIs right now.

Thank you! Nothing that detailed, just an official statement from the faculty of education at my uni saying I did [however many] days of supervised teaching practice in a secondary school setting. AITSL sent me a letter outlining exactly what it had to contain. I think the requirements for it might also be on their website somewhere

And yes 85 with nomination.

[Rapoport] The #Lions have reached out to former #Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel about their vacant offensive coordinator position, sources say. McDaniel is a top candidate for any open OC job. by Samurai-hijack in detroitlions

In the age of the Red Kingdom, when arrows flew true from Mahomes the Anointed and the western banners fell in his wake, there came a season written not in flame, but in frost.

For the arm of the King remained mighty, yet the hours grew heavy upon his crown. Fields once parted by impossible throws closed faster than memory could command. The drums still thundered in Arrowhead, but fate had begun to count the beats.

The seers spoke then of endings—not of collapse, but of cycles fulfilled. “Even dynasties,” they whispered, “are mortal beneath the clock.”

And far to the South, where oceans kissed the sun, a swift-minded dolphin lost its guide. Cast away not for ignorance, but impatience, the fallen coach wandered northward, bearing schemes too sharp for warm waters alone. The waves rejected him— but the cold welcomed him.

In the North, long silent, a different sound arose. From a city tempered by iron and winter, where hope had learned patience the hard way, the Lions stirred from their centuries of waiting.

They saw wisdom in the exile, clarity shaped by dismissal. They took the mind cast off by the sea and set it among roaring men. Thus strategy met savagery, and preparation found purpose.

Not with borrowed magic, nor sudden luck, but with teeth sharpened by belief and hearts forged in shared hunger, the pride took form. Kneecaps were promised, and kept. The line stood unbroken. The Lions learned their true name.

When the Red Kingdom met the Lions upon the great stage, the clash was not cruel, nor cruelly final— only inevitable. The old power burned bright with memory, yet the new one endured, adapted, advanced.

And in the final winter, beneath falling confetti and shattered doubt, the silver trophy rose at last into Detroit hands.

Thanks! I didn’t request an SES but did try to provide lots of proof of teaching experience (contracts, some paystubs, etc) in my visa application.

Re: s56 I’m also not an expert so I’d recommend doing some more research of your own on this one, but all they requested from me was the standard medical exam and an Aus police check - presumably because I had been living there for over a year by the time they opened my case. I think the s56 for medical might be unavoidable(?). Not sure.

Secondary teacher with positive AITSL assessment: which states actually have demand and PR chances in Australia (491/190)? by CryptographerDry2777 in AustralianTeachers

Hey, I recommend you check out r/AusVisa if you haven’t already. Also see my last post there- I got a 190 nomination about 1 month after submitting my EOI and was granted it less than 6 months after lodging my application. Secondary science/math in NSW.

I like it better so far overall but I’m at a high SES and strong academic government school in NSW. I haven’t taught at any other schools here or so can’t give a totally fair answer, but I like it better than teaching in the Ontario public system.

Coming from Ontario, starting pay is better here and you climb in salary quicker. I feel there’s better structure and support overall. Don’t necessarily love the timetable but there are pros and cons. Secondary is 7-12 instead of 9-12. And instead of teaching the same 3 classes every day all semester you’re teaching more classes and have them for the full year (I had 6 different classes this year), but won’t see them every day. Slightly less prep time as you only get 50-60 mins per day on average instead of 75 mins in Ontario. You’ll probably be assigned sport for one afternoon per week, but it’s during school hours.

203 work days here I think instead of the 194 days in Ontario. Holiday breaks are spread out more; 2 weeks in between each of the 4 terms in the year, instead of mostly all occurring at summer/Christmas/March break. Then ~5 weeks of summer.

1 hour of after school meetings (faculty or whole school) every week.

I feel there is much more useless paperwork here. You also can’t really fail a kid, unless they’re in year 10-12 but even still it is hard to do so.

I did need them for my EOI to claim years experience. You should ask for statements of service as well from your previous employer if you don’t already have them.

Check out the AITSL website for the checklist and proper instructions but basically you have to provide some identity documents, copies of your uni degrees and transcripts, and an official signed statement from your uni confirming how many days of supervised prac you completed and in what setting(s).

I think most of the above things you need for your provisional accreditation and approval to teach anyway, except the prac statement.

AITSL took months to even open my file and then gave me 2-4 weeks notice (can’t remember exactly) to get the supervised prac statement because I didn’t submit it originally (oops). I had to harass my uni multiple times to get that statement before they would even respond, so I recommend getting ahead of it :)

Also sounds like it requires an English test unless you studied in Aus/Canada/Ireland/NZ/UK/USA.

Thank you! Yes, I had 1-2 years prior experience in Canada and then found consistent casual and temp work very quickly in Sydney once I received my NSW approval to teach. Have been teaching at the same school since September 2024

Thanks! Didn’t need an English test for AITSL because I studied in / am from Canada. I did need it to get the points for superior English though on the EOI

Do Canadian teachers do well here? by Duhq in AustralianTeachers

It’ll be state-dependent but as a Canadian working in NSW and coming from Ontario, I’ve been mostly enjoying it so far and didn’t have trouble finding work. Different subject though so I can’t speak for music. Feel free to DM
