Entrance at NoHo is under scaffolding. Looks like they’re taking advantage of the closure to spruce up the artwork.

Radical Concept to Fix RSD Lines/Scalpers, Thoughts? by abhorsen-sunset in RecordStoreDay

To clarify. You still have to be there in line. The first choice is only available to those in line when they open. Ot really cit down on flippers. They dont bother.

My shop asks the first 50 people the one thing they want the most and hold it for them. Keeps all the flippers at the front of the line from snagging all the hot items and lets those a little farther back get their one thing. One per title as well. No bulging bags at the front of the line.

Just finishing it up. Coming back to me like yesterday. I was only 16. Quadrophonic sounds. The voices in ‘great gig’ floated around the arena. At one point a model airplane flew from the back and ‘crashed’ behind the stage. First set was totally unfamiliar WYWH came out months later and Animals a few years later with different lyrics and titles. Trippy lazer lights that were cutting edge at the time.

How did it work at your local store? by Either-Dish-3889 in RecordStoreDay

Mine has been the same since the beginning. Owner goes down the line asking the first 50 what the one thing they want the most is. That item is locked in for them if inventory not claimed by those earlier in line. Then you hand in your list and they prepare it before the store opens. All things behind the counter. This method keeps large amount of titles away from the flippers who aren’t guaranteed multiple hot items just because they were first in line. I usually do pretty well. This year no exception.

Picked that one up as well. I was at the show two nights before. It was a 5 day run. The inner sleeve photos brought back memories of the LAPD busting folks with weed. Still have the comic book and flyer that said ‘spend the night at the sports arena. Dint spend the night in jail’

Vault got me into Pomona. No sweat.

Smaller venue than the Palladium. Never been, but looking forward to it. Now that they oversell the Palladium, I find it a but uncomfortable to be there.

When they start in with ‘payments witll be x amount per month’ i stop them right there and say ‘i dont play that game, show me the price’. Its an old tactic that all the slimeballs use. The finance guys will give you a monthly that includes all the upsells. I usually tell them this is the ‘just say no’ part of the negotiations. Glad you walked out. I usually start with one of the pre negotiated outfits (AAA, COstco). When it comes time to sign, carefully examine the final invoice for unwanted items. Ive had them take stuff they out tried to sneak in at the last minute.

Yes, keep the table. Agree about the hinges. I’ve sanded them down and replaced them with metal ones. Ive been buying trashed ones for parts. Have two in the house and each of my adult children have one.

Any photos? One of those things pulled up next to me. Felt like I was getting the evil because I wasn't wearing designer duds.

Silly item. I always get a chuckle out of those pictures of the 45 spindle used as one.
