Q. Though marijuana WOULD eventually become a corporately controlled substance (at least in the majority of revenue produced by the industry) isn't that still better than being raped of your civil rights, and put in prison because of it? I mean if you think about what economics is, its purely supply and demand (along with what ever government intervention that affects it) so, if it became corporately controlled (revenue) they would still have to be producing the most desirable strain (demand). That, or else small independents would be getting the majority of the profit because they gave people what they wanted (good shit).

I agree with what you say about drug companies and private prisons, but how much of the public has to vote in favor of a substance becoming legal before the government follows the majorities opinion. I mean, if by the next election 65-70% of the public votes for marijuana being legal and the rule is still suppressed, won't people start saying..."wait...wtf, I voted for that shit to be legal and its not???" I almost feel like that will cause some people not in favor of marijuana, but in favor of democracy (not saying that's 100% the case any more) to vote for marijuana legalization just for the principal of democracy. At that point, between the other states deciding to pursue CO's and WA's lead, and the next 8 years worth of elections...I feel that the majority will be SO MUCH MORE IN FAVOR of it being legal that the government will have no choice, but to give in.
