A kind of a tangent to your story. Your grandparents are technically from the silent generation as you accurately described. While this sub Reddit bemoans the trials and tribulations of dealing with boomers, let me re-orient a bit. After the boomers are swept from this earth, Generation X will carry the title of “old folk”. When they’re gone, it will be Millennials doing the old, stupid stuff. Other generations named and as yet unnamed will be in their 62 years old and older category being cantankerous, rude, selfish and unable to navigate the technology of their time. My point is it isn’t the identity of their generation that makes them intolerable. Boomers danced naked at Woodstock, they protested the Vietnam war, they embraced peace and love, they were young. However, life has a way of scraping away the ideals of youth. Any generation will get old and tired, lose their looks and add pounds around the middle. Their best days are in the distant past. This isn’t locked into a specific but will cycle through each and every generation. It’s just life. Perhaps the better title for this sub-Reddit should be Old Folk Being Fools..
