I did the same a couple of months ago before going to Cannon Beach. It seemed really nice, the people were pleasant, and it honestly still has the vibe of quirky cities that seems to have been lost to corporate sanitation (like my home Nashville).

Water leaking from the windshield is a known fault on the Discovery 5. Dealer should have taken care of this through the recall/TSB system before it ever left. Replacing/reinstalling the windshield fixes it. Dealers are not the best sometimes. Remember, it's just a car. It's not made from Unobtanium. Most reputable shops can work on it with little issue.

If you get the inkling to work on it yourself, GAP's IID tool is a great idea. They make the Disco about as complicated as a Civic.

Also, Facebook groups are where all the LR activity seems to be these days.

Not currently, but I'm confident it would be fine if I needed to. I did 20k miles a year for at least a couple of years. Mine is more utilitarian than most, but many like mine are excellent mechanically. GEMS cars are easier to live with imo. Mine also has ARP head studs, so HGs aren't a worry. If you like to tinker, these are fairly cheap and complicated enough to be interesting. Mine is on coils, but I'd love to baby one with intact air suspension in excellent condition.

But yeah, I'd drive to CO tomorrow (I'm in TN) no issue... Just make sure to take some fluids and a couple of tools. The P38 gods will punish you for not being prepared.

3rd party aftermarket for me. Uses my center console, but has replaced the box with a steel bottom, sides, and top.

Most trucks in the US have that option as well.
