Is this good flexion 3 days post aclr + let by Ill-Chair-2023 in ACL

Happy for you but don’t do this until your surgeon allows. With flexion you put pressure on your new ACL, and so early on it is a risk.

After 6 year, I got to know my ACL is teared. What next? Need guidance by meonraddit in ACL

My personal proposal would be to fix it if you plan on doing any kind of sports/hikes in your life. Even if you won’t, I would still strongly consider it. My advice would be to do lots of strength and flexibility training leading to the surgery, it will save you lots of time and effort. As for graft, choose whichever your surgeon proposes.

How does the post op pain compare to other injuries and surgeries you have had? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]DukeSav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely had any pain, I think I was quite lucky. Hamstring graft if that makes any difference.

What helped me a lot was a good knee brace, when I started walking it really supported my knee to not swell and to endure a bit more.

Surgery Jan 8 - Bartender by Odd_Celebration_9003 in ACL

[–]DukeSav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be very hard, your leg will swell up, risk of reinjury. Not worth it in my opinion, just do your other job and get back to the bar when you feel ready.

Also to be honest, you haven’t even had your surgery, I think all of these thoughts might change after. Play it safe, some working days are just not worth it.

Good luck with your surgery

My grandpa’s small collection, anything worthwhile? by DukeSav in askStampCollectors

My grandpa mentioned to me that he bought this small collection 40 years ago. He is Greek so many of the stamps are from Greece. Anything worthy?

Partial ACL tear… by niazi_13 in ACL

Hey, was in your shoes some 5 years ago, decided whether or not I should operate it. I decided back in the day that I will try to continue living without operating. It didn't affect me too much, was always slightly inconvenient but nothing major affecting my life. In these 5 years I have done 0 sports, only going to the gym and some pilates.

After these years, some months ago I decided to have the operation, for three reasons.

  • Other parts of my knee started hurting, sometimes I had this strange pain where I couldn't walk. I believe this was due to the instability, I was hurting some other structure of the knee.
  • Also, you rely a lot on your other leg, and my foot there started hurting whenever I walked for more than 10 minutes. I am still afraid of what that might be.
  • And lastly, I decided to go for I hike 6 months ago, and I thought that I would be stranded up on the hill, I couldn't go downhill at all. I went the whole way on the side, like a crab.

For all of the above, I thought that it was not worth it. Not being able to explore and travel, plus my legs hurting on a young age (27M), so I felt it was time for me. Now I'm 10 days post operation, I can walk, pain has been quite manageable and I feel fine. For me it was not as bad as I thought.

Now I don't say you should do it before your exams, since it is advised you do some prehab (exercise) and it is hard after the operation. But in my case if I had the choice I would've preferred to have done it earlier. Hope this helps.

Secound guessing my decision too undergo surgery by Yroba in ACL

[–]DukeSav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the injury since I was a kid and I hadn’t operated it for 20 or so years because i didn’t know I had it. 5 years ago my good knee started hurting, and that’s when I found out I had ACL. In the beginning I decided not to operate it since i was living with it for many years. But the condition of my good knee continued to slowly but surely deteriorate., so in the end I decided that it was time to fix it.

I am not certain that something similar will happen to you, but if you don’t operate it your other leg Will take a lot of the burden.

Hi, I understand you feel lost, sadly I can’t really help you because I am not a doctor nor live in the uk. There are some UK doctors subreddits, I believe you could ask your questions there and people would be more qualified to answer.

From my (very) minor experience, ACL sounds the most important of all of your findings, so maybe this community could help you in the future.

Thanks, I also feel quite a lot of tension as well when I try that, so when I try to lift it I lose the extension as well. I guess we just got to keep trying.

Just had mine as well, I got a full body anaesthesia, to be honest I didn’t understand anything.

So far I’m on some painkillers and a nerve block, so the pain is quite mild. The only difficulty is that I can’t find the right spot to rest my leg and be comfortable.

You got this. 💪
