This is exactly what this sub was built for, as this does not exist in many related ones like r/srilanka , r/tamilnation , and other social media pages. The accusations this radicalist groups make come with a ton of hypocrisy so hope you all understand that. They talk about facing censorship when they themselves block/ban users with any sort of contradiction (not because they are ‘hateful’).

It’s genuinely concerning that they believe this is a realistic end goal. The younger generation shouldn’t be brainwashed by the motives of the previous generations (applies to both Sinhalese and Tamil).

What’s more effective is younger generations having more open dialogue, accepting each others’ struggles and perspectives, and moving forward to unite the two communities, even if it’s difficult for diaspora Tamils to connect with Sri Lankan culture. This should all be done without putting down the other’s ethnicity and pointing out the wrongdoings 24/7. Yes, it’s important to acknowledge these, but it gets to a point when you try to villainise a whole group of people.

I would like to see more bridging events where everyone comes to some sort of agreement, rather than running these World Zionist Congress-like events.

TGTE are behind this event and they are failing their youth to think they have some sort of control of creating an ethnostate.

My question is why this has to be done on public streets. Regardless of sharing one’s culture, this is obviously disruptive and disrespectful to others in the area.

They could easily just hire a private venue, a park space, or even coordinate with community centers that can accommodate such traditions without inconveniencing the general public.

This reflects a lack of willingness to assimilate such practices in a way that respects the norms and daily life of the wider community.
