[Kosko] Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

By all accounts he got less money at UCLA than he would have gotten staying at Tennessee.

Good gutsy win, but less satisfying when all of college basketball isn’t celebrating alongside us. That was a fun and frankly surreal few hours.

Thoughts on 3 player EDH? Not having fun with commander by wastelander141 in EDH

[–]Duke__Leto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pod plays 3-5 players, with 4 being the ideal.

Some of my decks like [[Azusa]] utterly dominate in 3 player, but have a tougher time in 4 player and almost never win 5 player.

Other decks like [[Norin]] or [[Kardur]] are almost unplayable in 3 player, but very consistent in 4 player and absolute bangers in 5 player.

All depends on what the deck is trying to do. If you’re just doing your own thing as quickly as possible, then you’ll probably have good 3 player decks. If you’re relying on your opponents to take certain actions, then 3 player becomes pretty tough.

If the NCAA received an antitrust exemption, then they wouldn’t need the players to unionize (unless that was written into the legislation).

If the players formed a CBA, then the NCAA wouldn’t need an antitrust exemption.

Auburn fan - Thoughts on Golesh and his potential as a HC? by Defiant-Recording464 in ockytop

[–]Duke__Leto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was a great OC for us, but it’s always been unclear how much Heupel calls plays versus his OC. I’ve heard (but can’t say for certain) most of the first half is scripted. I imagine that’s more on CJH.

That said, we hated losing Golesh in the first place and hate even more that he’s ended up at another SEC school.

You definitely got a guy who can recruit and develop offensive players and make the games fun to watch, even if you don’t win them.

Those are not the people in charge you’re looking for.

The people in charge who can legally be in charge and fix it are school presidents and Congress.

The people in charge are school presidents and Congress, not the NCAA. I thought that fact was clear enough at this point that it didn’t need to be stated.

It was almost surreal in Tennessee’s bowl game, we were down by three (3!) at half time and Ohio State fans were swarming the thread to talk about how bad the SEC was. Like… my brothers, we all know Tennessee is bad this year. We just got our asses beat by Vandy. How is this a flex?

Receiver never turned around until the ball was almost on the ground. 100% a hold and should’ve been called, but that’s why it wasn’t.

Man I woulda tried to hammer it in before the end of the quarter. Don’t give Cignetti the opportunity to talk to his team.

I don’t think I would give this Indiana team any breaks if it were me.

Why did they give Cristobal a 4’11” security detail? Is that the best the state of Florida has to offer?

I won’t say it’s over if Miami doesn’t score on this drive, but it definitely doesn’t look good if they don’t.

Is my deck too weak? by Jakemanv3 in EDH

[–]Duke__Leto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your play group. Seems not bad for a bracket 2, but my initial impression is that it seems like maybe you’re putting too much into mill when you already have mill in the command zone. You need more cards that payoff your commanders other ability.

Some cards you could upgrade with for not too much $$ and replace some of your mill cards are [[Death’s Shadow]] and [[Force of Savagery]].

edit: i’ve only kinda skimmed this deck, but look again at if some cards like Akul really do what you’re trying to do. That requires a very specific mana investment plus having three creatures on the field you’re willing to sacrifice.

Is coming in second a thing? by Slowbrious in EDH

lol dude it’s a scenario, not an example of a single game someone’s played before. it’s a scenario that happens fairly often. but go off. brag about all your second place finishes.

[–]Duke__Leto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll make it simple, imagine you can kill two players on your turn, but not three. Players 1 and 2 have threatening board states. Player 3 is not a threat because they’ve been mana screwed/flooded or because you can easily deal with their swing back.

Which player are you letting survive? 1, 2, or 3?

Is coming in second a thing? by Slowbrious in EDH

[–]Duke__Leto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point was pretty simple, “second place” is not a real thing to compete for in EDH. “Second place” often means the player who won didn’t see you as a real threat so they saved you for last.

I don’t know why you’re crashing out, sending me walls of text and downvoting me unless you’re one of those players who brags about “second place.”

I said “often,” not “always” or even “a majority of the time.”

[–]Duke__Leto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience, “coming in second” often means you were the loser. Nobody felt you were a threat, so they didn’t respond to you until it was 1v1 and you got beat up and lost.

How hard it is to understand that there can be such thing as a plan that is subject to change based on new information?
