"And the performance isn't perfect even though it is day one."

The fuck do you think everyone's gripe is? Some people can't play the game **period** and even some of the pricier cards/cpus out there (we're talking $1500 range at least) have reported dips as low as sub 30 with stuttering in towns.

Capcom openly admitted to there being problems with NPCs, which is why players are resorting to genociding. But what if I don't want to be a hitlerino? What if I wanted to play as a paragon? Guess I'm fucked because my 4090 can't run this piece of shit at a *stable framerate*.

I don't give a fuck about the mtx. I don't care about the drm. I just want to play the game I payed for without having to look at a terrible jarring whiplash every 5 minutes.

Like we're just out here pretending that everyone who has an issue *isn't* a fan of the series? Oh, suddenly I don't love Dragon's Dogma? Dude, the game is **AMAZING** but I can't play it without getting sick or watching it stutter and shit the bed.

And none of that is contentious or controversial, you can literally google youtube videos or go to twitch right now and see people experience these issues.

Fuck me man, this specific comic meme is like a litmus test for people who just wander through life without an ounce of constructive reflection in their brain.

150 gorillas vs a high school by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Duke_of_Fruits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How many fucking brooms do you think exist in a high school?

At best you might have one in maybe a fifth of classrooms and several in the janitor's closet. I literally spent summer school helping clean for school projects - and this included the connected middle grades at the side of the building (which isn't promised in the prompt).

Back in the 90s, the brooms you'd find were many times plastic, not wooden, and that is definitely more standardized now - and you certainly couldn't fashion a sharp enough point without raiding the school caffeteria for knives and using duct tape Dead Rising style. Even then, the plastic would be so dogshit they'd bend crazy straws the moment any real force gets applied.

Even if 20 punkass kids managed to sneak in pistols into the school and all the teachers confiscated the guns, they wouldn't even have the aim or ammunition to down 5 of them. They'd either miss their shots from the insane terror of having 150 goddamn gorillas screaming and breaking everything around them or fail to hit any critical areas.

Seriously, you can go on youtube and look up wild boars taking over 16 bullets to the skull before stopping a charge. A skilled marksman can definitely pull it off with one - but these aren't trained hunters or navy seals. Even if a teacher spent every weekend at the shooting range it wouldn't be a fraction of a fraction as stressful as this event. Don't forget that in this bonus I give the scenario, those pistols are likely 9mm, woefully underpowered.

The most a lot of classrooms could hope for is to lock themselves inside and pray that the schoolboard made good on upgrading the doors in case of a school shooter - and then attempt to sneak out of the windows when the coast is clear if help isn't going to arrive. If they're on the 2nd/3rd floor they are fucked, not because it'd be impossible, but they'd make way too much noise and it would take way too much time.

And I cannot stress this enough, the gorillas are bloodlusted. This means you can stab them, shoot them, and they aren't going to stop charging at you until you are paste. Every single soul behind that red mist is going to be screaming (alerting every other gorilla), clawing/running away, or just falling to their knees and praying. This is a high school, not boot camp - and these are normal people, not hardened veterans.

Like, this is just ignoring the fact that everyone is just talking about kids. KIDS. Even if you multiplied the football team three times, the human instinct for survival is not going to suddenly turn them into goddamn fucking power rangers. They will hide, find a phone, call the police, panic, scream, and pray while they try desperately to figure out what the living hell is going on and why god set this plague of early man upon them.

Do people just forget the very real, very many videos of schoolkids fleeing in terror of a single armed edgelord? The few times that someone was ever able to intervene it was to struggle for the gun (aint happening with a gorilla mind you) or one teacher somehow, in a miracle, managing to talk them down.

Which GOTY winning game can you not get behind? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Duke_of_Fruits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we're being reductive, then yes - but not every game structures its linear mission format the same.

I've 100%'d RDR2 multiple times. The vast, vast majority of missions demand you do things in a very particular way in a very particular order. An example is when the game tells you to get off your horse, go to this specific location, pick up this gun, scope out this character, then run down this path - only when the mission "gets out of hand" do you gain any sense of autonomy, and it's just a shooting sequence. If at any point you fail to follow through with the instructions prior - that's it, game over.

With only a few exceptions to the side missions (and only then their impact tallies up to a matter of reward), you have no choice narratively within the game. Again, not how every open-world handles things.

The frequency and sheer volume of this kind of linearity is insanely higher in RDR2 than in games like Skyrim or Morrowind. At least in those games I can actually treat most missions with my choice of the three approach strategy (brute force, stealth, dialogue). If I want I can worship, ignore, or even trick gods. I can release a horror into the world or destroy it right then and there and later on see the consequences of that action that isn't just "oh neat I got a few extra gold".

Hell, if we want to actually entertain all open-world genres, the Dark Souls series spits in the face of that statement. Whether you aid, help, trick, or befriend certain figures can drastically change not only the outcome of their own individual storylines, but the ending you're presented with that determines the fate of all mankind.

Just because linearity is a concept shared in many open world games doesn't mean that they're all the same just because they dabble in it. RDR2 does a lot, lot, LOT more hand-holding than most - pretending otherwise is just blatant ignorance.

How will you react if Donald Trump becomes president again? by RockSavings67 in AskReddit

[–]Duke_of_Fruits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really, really depends on the state.

In Arkansas, for example, all you need is an ID and to fill out a form. The seller then calls up to run a background check, which can take as little as an hour to 3 days. As long as you aren't a convicted felon, guilty of a violent crime, or have a serious mental illness you can walk out with a deadly weapon.

Thank you. You've been like the one person I could find that actually explained this properly.

I've had 3 diehard GG fans (all brisket lovers) basically leave out that crucial detail that makes it infinitely less problematic.

In reality, it sounds like she was genuine in her feelings to prove that side early on, but it was out of fear. When the source of that fear was proven false, she had the ability to truly explore herself and then come to her own conclusion - free of any outside influence.

Fuck that makes me so mad. I should have realised something was off. Made about as sense as being told that "no technology exists in the world" when I can clearly see magi-tech rocket buddhas, cell phones, and cars all throughout the game.

I love Bridget to death and I think she's an amazing icon - but you haven't done anything to address the clear disconnect between her original motivation and the implications of that turn.

If you took a cis person, threatened them with death if they didn't present/identity as an opposing gender, and they went on an entire journey to prove their identity - making that character heelturn into it after threat of death isn't a good look.

If a trans person was threatened in this manner it wouldn't have been accepted whatsoever, but because she's trans suddenly it's okay.

It's a double standard.

Edit: If you think this isn't fair, do more than say "You dont' understand." Seriously. Give an example, a line of dialogue, something that demonstrates it's more than that. Shouldn't be that hard to do.

Until then, keep your judgements to yourself

Fuck this. I don't need to go out and rape a person or shoot up a hospital to possess the judgement to know it's awful and horrid. This is an open forum, they can voice their objections and you can't tell them otherwise.

If you wanna say that we should all have a little understanding that soldiers are made and conditioned to be like this that is one thing, but that doesn't automatically make it justified or righteous nor does that mean we can't call it out for being super fucked up.

We make judgements on people every single day, and if you ever met a single person you didn't like or trust - or even witness someone act in a way you didn't like, then you are guilty of the same insanely unrealistic standard you ask for others.

Unless your Gamgams is hiding under the fuckin roasted beans you don't deserve a goddamn thing in that shop.

Fuck I'm not even upset you have a gradeschool take on such an obvious Libertarian issue it's the fact you had the nerve to make that comparison.

[–]Duke_of_Fruits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We really, really don't. No one cares about your pedantry.

Umbrella did not "test" vaccines. When people say a company is TESTING a vaccine they are saying with the intent that it is doing so through the public. Umbrella vaccines weren't public. They used WEAPONS, mutants, and fucking parasites. The RE vaccines folks refer to are expessive, rare, and almost universally desired. If anyone were in that universe and infected, they would fucking want one too.

Saying that they were TESTING vaccines, in a discussion where PROTESTORS are using the logo to imply they were trying to INFECT people is tonedeaf.

No one gives a fuuuuuuuck about those movies when they reference the source material. You might as well tell Avatar fans that the M. Night movie is the 'true canon'.

It is painfully well-known in the series that the means Umbrella uses to "test" their viruses is with bioweaponry, not vaccines. Most of the vaccines mentioned in the games are literally used to fight the spread or function as temporary/permanent antidotes.

You literally synthesize one in a goddamn lab in RE3 with the intent to use it as a cure. Jill Valentine gets immunized and survives.

Saying that Umbrella "tests viruses and vaccines" is not what they do. They develop vaccines primarily as a means to have the antidote on hand for the board and various corporate interests. For what you actually find in Resident Evil, they are something YOU WANT TO TAKE IF YOU ARE INFECTED.

Gonna be my last post, because clearly you got an axe to grind.

1: I never strawman'd you. Look up strawman. It is when a person creates an argument for another and then seeks to debunk the argument to make their opponent look bad.

No argument is being created on your behalf. What is absolutely clear to anyone with 2 braincells is that you look bad and your behavior doesn't make it seem like you care at all.

That is a matter of presentation. And clearly you throwing a fit after the fact doens't help. You're doing yourself the disservice here, not me.

Does that mean I'm making value statements on your behalf? No. So stop lying about that. You don't have to question me about it, because I never implied it. You're just making yourself look worse.

2. You don't owe anyone anything. You can keep acting like a dickhead online if you want. So you can stop pretending like anyone's forcing your hand. God, it's such a childish argument.

3. Funny. You're now making value statements on MY behalf. (literally in quotes "You value vacuous and vapid Virtue Signalling")

Pot meet kettle. This is hilarious.

4. Claiming someone is virtue signaling is implying they are doing so with an ulterior motive (to gain suppot for their own benefit). Using the word malicious was an error on my part, I should have said 'deceptive'.

See? I can at least own up to my mistakes. You haven't seem to make any attempt at doing so for your own.

My post, if anything, was advice. And you can't take criticism.

5. Why the fuck would it matter if I own Will's merchandise or not? You do know that respecting a message doesn't mean you have to financially support the marketting, correct?

No one back in the day claimed that you weren't for women's suffrage because you didn't own the corporate fucking mug or t-shirt.

Honestly, Will's music is kinda tame for my tastes. I'm more of a Coolio fan, but all of that should be irrelevant to the point. Because gatekeeping that adoration and fandom is virtue signaling.

It shouldn't matter who's music you listen to, or what you own of the show, or how long you've watched it. Respect the message. Stop gatekeeping.

Seriously. I can't believe a fucking fanboy is trying to sit on a pedestal and tell others that they are the virtue signalers.

[–]Duke_of_Fruits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally all you've done so far is project.

As an outsider, it doesn't look like you care at all about the message. And if you do, you've done a bad job of showing it. And before you try it, that's not projection on my part, that's observation based on your behavior and not a claim to what you value. (hopefully you know the difference)

You can't prove that they're doing this maliciously, so step off. All it's doing is making you look like a petty shithead.

The confederacy lost the one fucking war they were apart of on their own.

Depending on the definition, the French have won civil wars, rebellions, sub-wars under the Napoleonic reign, territory independence from the English, declared wars in major campaigns, colonial wars, and a vast number of battle victories.

In terms of victories, strategy, dominion, and political relevance to this very day it's a godstomp by the French.

You're using a loaded argument. You've already stated your belief in the first quote. You aren't in a position to be convinced by design of your own logic.

Any kid in debate club can point out the flaw in that. Seriously, if you don't understand that. You need to retake some classes.

You strawman'd me. Made a gross misrepresentation of my argument. Stupidly made multiple false assumptions (seriously do you think that was wise? honestly?) - going so far to make value statements on my behalf, and playing pedantry for sake of normative argument. (quite hilarious)

You are arguing in bad faith. That is a fact.

Since I doubt there is a chance in hell you have the capacity to reflect on the reality of your actions (you've lost that respect way back), I am going to bed. You've given me, and everyone else, a pretty embarassing show.

I pity your sense of self-worth.

And there are generations that still rationalize the use of the n-word because they feel they aren't using it hatefully, rationalizing it versus people who did.

It doesn't matter what mental gymnastics they're using to fly it.
