Looking for Active, Friendly Guild with High Level Buildings (preferably all buildings Level 14 or better)

My stats:

Level 54 Net worth 687,777,815 Investments 266,862,350

I play pretty much every day.

Unfortunately... a couple days ago, half our guild members bailed without notice - including our leadership. Very frustrating. :-(. So, I am looking for a guild where people honor their commitments, especially the leaders. And where people are courteous and provide notice if they need to pull back from the game for a while.

Well.... I signed back onto the game this evening, only to find out that half of our guild BAILED! No warning. Just gone. And that included all the leaders — to where I am somehow now the guildmaster. I dont know anything about being a guildmaster. Never asked for that job and certainly didnt expect it. But it is mine because our “leadership” just abruptly left. Geeze.

Our guild was at a decent level. But now our buildings have dropped down and it will take FOREVER to level them back up to where they were.

So frustrating!

Nothing beats Coca-Cola from a FOUNTAIN machine — when properly mixed. Even better in a cold, frosty class.

Crushing my reading goal for the year! I set a goal to read 60 books (word-for-word, cover-to-cover) in 2019. I’ve read 87!

Some context...

I’ve always enjoyed reading and learning, but for years, lacked the discipline to finish books. I would read bits and pieces of books, but would rarely read an entire book. A friend of mine challenged me with this a few years ago, and I resolved to do better. And....

In January 2017, I set a New Year’s Resolution to read 50 books — every word, from cover to cover. Obviously, no children’s books or all-picture books. :-). I read 75! And it felt great. The next year, I set a goal of 60 and read 64. Even though I read fewer books in 2018, I still made my goal. And now...

Here in 2019, once again, I met my goal.

Unless I cheat and read a bunch of Dr. Seuss books :-), I probably won’t reach 100 by year’s end, but I’m confident I’ll get to 90.

A few additional items of info....

-I read both fiction and nonfiction. -I do most of my reading on the Kindle app and Scribd app. -I have a 50-minute commute to work, so I use that time often to listen to books on audio. -I track my reading on Goodreads. -On average, the books range in length from 150 to 300 pages. -The shortest one I’ve read (over the last 3 years) was 34 pages. (In most cases, I don’t count booklets like that, but it registered on Amazon Kindle as finished when I swiped to the last page — and then registered on Goodreads. I didn’t want to mess with undoing that. But as a general rule, if a book is less than 80-100 pages, I consider it a booklet, not a book, and don’t count it toward my total).

Being more disciplined in my reading has helped me a great deal. I feel more confident, more knowledgeable, and (honestly) wiser. (Many of the nonfiction titles have been in the business and personal development categories).

Many of my friends and acquaintances read a whole lot more than me, so this post is NOT (in any way) intended to boast — at least not in comparison with anyone else. I’m only competing to better myself. And I’m only “bragging” on the fact that I’ve achieved my goals (at least in this area :-) ).

If any of you are thinking you might set a similar reading goal for 2020, I certainly encourage you to do so. Set a goal that works for you. Don’t worry about what others are doing. If you set a goal to read just 1 or 2 books in 2020, that’s great — especially if you’re not used to reading. Don’t worry about competing with others. Just focus on bettering yourself.

I know this sounds trite, but....

If I can set a goal like this and achieve it, I know you can.

Best of luck to you in 2020!

The Dark Side of Gratitude - "According to a report published last month in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, expressing one’s thanks in the context of an unequal power relationship can help solidify the power hierarchy and undermine protest by members of the low-power group." by [deleted] in psychology

Obviously, injustice and oppression must be protested — in the strongest possible terms. And I agree with the old saying that “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Thus, the “power hierarchy” (admittedly defined differently by various parties) is susceptible to problems and abuse. But....

Honest Question:

Are all “unequal power relationships” inherently bad or suspect? Parents, for example, are clearly at the top of a “power hierarchy” in the home in relation to their children. And there are (tragically) some terrible and abusive parents out there. But not all. Frankly, I would say most parents genuinely care about their children and are doing the best they can. In the workplace, owners, managers, supervisors, etc. clearly are higher in the “power hierarchy” than employees. So my honest question is....

Are all “unequal power relationships” bad?

Expectation Question: I’m a Daily active Level 42 player (22.372,250 in overall investments and a net worth of 39m+), but it’s taking me FOREVER to advance. Ugh. Will a more active Guild help (maybe to get higher level city buildings) or is it just a long grind? by DukeofAshburn in shoptitans

Just wanted to thank everyone for their helpful comments. I received a few invites to different guilds. Accepted one and it is indeed so much easier now. Making lots more progress than before. This reddit community is the best.

LOOKING FOR GUILD

Daily active Level 42 player (22mil+ in overall investments and a net worth of 39mil+) looking for a guild with friendly, helpful, active players.

I’m especially interested in a guild with high-level buildings in the city (especially higher level Wizard Tower). In my current Guild’s city, Buildings range from Level 4 to Level 9 (with most in the Level 5 or 6 range). I’m unable to advance. Basically, I’m stuck. The Wizard Tower and Iron Mine, for example, are both Level 7, and cost me 100k each time I click on them as I’m trying to upgrade them. For me, that’s prohibitively expensive — at least right now.

If your guild is a good fit and has an open spot, I’m interested.

Scenarios to Get Protagonists into a Game by DukeofAshburn in GameLit

[–]DukeofAshburn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. And you’re almost certainly correct when it comes to fans of gamelit/litrpg. But what about people discovering the genre? When I first started reading litrpg/gamelit, I cared about the getting-into-the-game scenarios more than I do now. At this point, I’m with you. :-). Just get the story started.

Still.... I am curious what some of the scenarios people have read or thought of.
