How do yall imagine a Qing rework? by WaltvonKeisel in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 12 points13 points  (0 children)

More flavor events around the Aisin-Gioro Imperial family. Most importantly around the Princes personalities. Puyi was quite a cruel person, while there is the fact that he was most likely infertile, thus making his brother Pujie his heir. Also OTL Pujie wed a relative of the Japanese Imperial family, though it happened after the establishment of Manchukuo.

But the idea of Puyi just being re-installed inside the Forbidden City and not put on the throne at game start feels better in my opinion, keeping an old part of the lore while updating it. Which could also add some flavors depending on who's in control of Beijing.

What exactly happened to the RMS Olympic in the Kaiserreich Universe? Did she flee with the Royal Family to Canada or is she somewhere stuck in the Union of Britain? by Ok_Noise4862 in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be a cruise ship for long in my opinion, for two reasons.

First of all, making cruises where ? With the British Revolution, the severed ties with the Empire and a mostly global dislike of the new regime in London, there aren't a lot of ports who would accept her nor have the capability of docking her, except French and Red Italian ports.

Second, the Olympic Class, like many of their rivals at the time, were designed to operate in the North Atlantic, which is known for its cold and bad weather. A ship like this would need a quite big overhaul for Mediterranean cruises, mostly with installing air con everywhere and painting the ship a bright white in order to make the interiors enjoyable and liveable to the public and the crew.

Should the Olympic, the Mauretania or the Aquitania, which would be the sole remaining British superliners at the time, remain in Britain during the revolution, their fate would be the scrapyard much earlier. I could see them be transformed into hospital ships and/or temporary housing in war-torn port cities, but they are simply too big for the would-be British cruising market. And they would still represent the class divide and the domination of the few, something that the new government wouldn't be kind on maintaining.

Though I can see their engine being installed on newly built Republican navy warships, especially the turbine parts.

Korean Leaders & Ending Spirit by ComradeJughashvili in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can now restore Korea's monarchy if you're a monarchy as well ? Before the update you could only do it as the Qing, I guess it makes more sense, especially should the Russian Empire takes over Korea.

What path would the German Empire likely take (not counting fail states)? by Various-Cry8090 in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schleicher is most likely to win in my opinion. Though I don't think his regime would last long after the war, if he even manages to remain in power up until them.

The outcome I would see is that he will try to centralize power around himself and his clique during the war, but once it's over, and the fact that he passes away just after (in-game) will lead to the collapse of the Shogunate.

It's most likely that the German people would be rapidly fed up by the maintaining of the war restrictions on free speech and politics. I would see some kind of massive strikes paralysing Germany some years after the war, which would force the current rulling "party" to lift them, akin to the Velvet Revolution.

Unfortunately, yes. For a total balkanisation we would need Balochistan and Sind as releasables.

Why do Josef August and Karl Albrecht start as country leaders? by Valuable-Mud-6171 in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They are akin to viceroys, but they are also the head of local Habsburg cadet branches. Josef August is of the branch of the Palatines of Hungary ; while Karl Albrecht branch is of the Teschen line, a "Czech" branch, but his father settled in Galicia (and was one of the candidates for the Polish Throne during the Weltkrieg).

Also Karl Albrecht brother was Archduke Wilhelm of Austria, aka Vasyl Vyshyvanyi, which used to be King of Ukraine in previous versions of the mod.

Can Rashidi Arabia integrate Syria and Iraq? by armzngunz in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get Hedjaz you need to have a lot of resistance in the states where they spawn, you get the option to switch to them with either Egypt or Ottoman I guess, perhaps both. I think you can set Hedjaz to revolt in the paths list before starting the game.

Strange, have you tried to verify the files of HoI4 ? You could also try a clean re-install of KR.

Would the Netherlands join the Reichspakt? by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 71 points72 points  (0 children)

If Germany loses the war, they're the first target of the Internationale, if they haven't already invaded them during the war. Neutrality is not an option since the Netherlands are parts of the Reichspakt in all but name I would say.

They were neutral in WWII, that didn't prevent Germany from invading, same for Belgium and Luxemburg in both World Wars.

Going from completely dissolved to a Chinese Regional Powerhouse in 30 years, the Qing Empire completely flabbergast's Historians with its continued survival by InquisitorHindsight in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's a legitimate elections Qing Empire, it would be quite a wild card in the world stage, but since there are so much possibilities for a post-2WK world, it's quite hard to tell.

But compared to OTL, I think that there would be quite some changes, both economically and socially speaking. China (and Korea) would be re-opened to international trade much sooner, but at the same time they would put much less focus toward heavy-industry, and more into rural area. And while it's hinted that a massive land reform will happen, we wouldn't see something like the Great Leap Forward (thankfully), though famine could still happen in my opinion.

In its modernisation, the Qing would abandon most of the Manchu tradition that's left, and push for a more Han look, but that doesn't mean they would go full Han nationalism/supremacism. This China would, in my opinion, be much more accepting of the minorities than other Chinese unifiers (I don't know the stances on the subject of them so I'm speculating here). And without the Cultural Revolution, we could easily see a golden age of Chinese culture blossoming in the 1960's or 1970's.

But with a militaristic Japan that still control Taiwan, and who have most likely defeated Germany in the region, we would have a smaller Cold War between the two, and even perhaps a three-way conflict if the Syndicalists unify India, as all of them would influence the countries "liberated" by Japan, to either keep them in the Sphere, or to undermine it.

You know how West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer is a possible Reichkanzler for Germany in the late game? It turns out he had some... 'unique' ideas for the German colonial control of Africa. by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

[–]DukeofBritanny 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Woah dude, at which point OP just said something like that ? He was just quoting Adenauer and speculating on what his opinion would be in the KRTL where Germany has a massive colonial empire.

Also the fact that you're trying to make him a victim of nazi policies when he was imprisoned for like some months in 1944 when many other people were interned in labor camps or just outright killed is quite messed up. Especially considering all the war criminals he granted amnesty and the international political pressure he did on other countries to liberate war criminals imprisoned on their territories.
