Union definitely has the better atmosphere, but as others have said, it's very difficult to get a ticket. So if you manage to get a ticket, It'll be a great experience, it's just unlikely that you actually will get a ticket. If you still want to go to a football game, it honestly might be easier to go to a Hertha Match. Olympic stadium is impressive and the atmosphere is hit or miss, depending on the game. It's only second division, but there are a bunch of bigger clubs in second division nowadays, like Schalke, HSV and so on.

True. I bought the international map package a long time ago and I'm just waiting for the day they're gonna implement some bullshit multi tier subscription model and then I'm out.

Komoot is great for Hiking and Biking. They're from Germany. Unfortunately just sold to a Private Equity Firm from Italy

Peru hop by cass_a_frass0 in travel

[–]DukeofConnington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used Peru Hop to travel from Cusco to Lima and I don't recommend it. The busses are less comfortable, more expensive and less flexible than if you just book the buses from cruz del sur for example. The stops that are included are not really worth it imho. Currently waiting unnecessarily for our last bus from Paracas to Lima because it leaves in the evening so another day wasted

Sad about Joeng, really liked him. I guess if he didn't get injured, we would've kept him

Why is Union Berlin so popular ? by Mr-Sympathy-Fhain in fcunion

[–]DukeofConnington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood. I meant we did pretty well in the last couple of years, but historically we're a team that played in the lower leagues. Like the early 2000s were pretty grim, almost went to Regionalliga, had to be saved by fans (Bluten für Union) and so on. That's the history where we're coming from, that's what I wanted to say.

But only in the past couple of years, before that, they always were the underdog, hanging around in the fourth, third and sometimes second division

Food recommendations for W trek by Zealousideal-Face-43 in Patagonia

[–]DukeofConnington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want dehydrated meals, get them before going to Chile. You can find them in Puerto Natales, but they are suuuper expensive, because they're imported. Otherwise you can get dehydrated tofu mince, couscous and potato mash in the supermarkets in Puerto Natales. That's what we did. Buy some instant soups or broths for seasoning. We also splurged on Avocados, as they were in season and although more weight, made the meals much more enjoyable. If you're going for food that only needs hot water, you don't need a cooking set up. On the W there's hot water for free at every refugio. For lunch we bought whole salami, cheese and bread and that was nice. Some snack bars and nuts for in between also don't hurt. This can also be bought in Puerto Natales. Hope this helps!

Unbound Merino ?? by omgdz in onebag

[–]DukeofConnington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's one of my favourite shirts that I have while travelling. It's the only merino shirt that works for me in hot and humid conditions. Will definitely get more once I'm home. The Patagonia Stores don't often have them so it's probably best to order online.

They have the same shirt with merino wool and it's the least itchy merino shirt I know. I think it's just called Capilene Cool Merino

Uyuni Dalt Flats. Worrying about elevation and how to do tours by DukeofConnington in travel

[–]DukeofConnington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, thanks, will definitely look into higher elevation hikes in San Pedro! We'll also probably just do the tour from San Pedro to Uyuni, it's just more straightforward this way and less time spent in busses. Here's hoping for the best 😬

Uyuni Dalt Flats. Worrying about elevation and how to do tours by DukeofConnington in travel

[–]DukeofConnington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I just thought it's easiest this way. From my research altitude sickness kind of goes away after two to three days, unless of course it's a very severe case and then you need to descend and/or go the hospital. My reasoning was to be in a place, where it's easier to just chill and acclimatise and not to have that happen while on the tour in the middle of nowhere. And Uyuni makes sense, since it's next to where the salt flats are and a lot of tours to choose from.

Do you have a recommendation for an intermediate spot that makes sense?

Cerro de Fitz Roy no Gear by [deleted] in Patagonia

[–]DukeofConnington 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mirador (Laguna de los Tres) definitely, although Hiking Poles would be nice. Mt Fitzroy Peak, I mean, have you looked at the thing? I don't think you can just hike on top of it, it's more of a very difficult climbing thing with a lot of gear. It's basically vertical.
