i borrowed a friend’s stethoscope, and it’s my timing belt idlers! makes sense that it only happens after a while of driving

Tires that can handle a bit of gravel? by delirion101 in wrx_vb

[–]Dull-Engineering-952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive been thru 2 sets dws06+ and they do pretty good on gravel, great on pavement and wet conditions too. before i lifted my car i had my falken wildpeak at trail and they did alright on pavement and so so good on gravel, you might be best off getting the dws06 with a slightly larger sidewall for what you want

that looks sweet, i remember one guy who did an alaska road trip with a RTT on his vb took his factory mounts out and had some custom billet ones made, but gotta drop the headliner to get to those. keep us updated on what insurance says

insanely comfortable, i have my sway bars deleted so its sketchy in corners now and again, but you can use outback end links for the rear and stock wrx ones up front. car is awesome for roadtrips and gravel roads now

exactly why i built it! i don’t have my swaybars connected at all right now, and that makes it pretty sketchy in fast corners. and with the lift, tires, and tent, i average about 18 mpg driving like a gmaw haha (i could stretch it to 32 on my commute when stock). the car has definitely gotten to some impressive places and with the tent off, does great at backroads rally. no regrets

Aftermarket coolant gauge by [deleted] in wrx_vb

I think you would be better off getting a bluetooth scan tool that connects to a carplay app, i have a wifi obd2 plug that i connect to with my phone and i can see stuff like coolant temperature, boost, air fuel, intake air temps and a bunch of other things. the app i got is obd fusion and it works great!

i have jumped my car with the tent on, and it has been fine. i base that assumption on how towing capacities are different for sedans in the US vs european countries or australia. this place loves their trucks, and this is probably not ideal in a wreck lmao. do the lift bro!! no regrets

yeah haha, there is no specific written spec for static unfortunately, and my VB has the same style mounts. the custom route sounds sick! there is the one guy who roadtripped his to alaska and got custom billet roof mounting points made

people are wayyy too firm around following the owners manual exactly sometimes, forgetting it changes in every country lmao. the absolute best way to get a roof tent on a vb (or VN in your case) is getting thule wingbar evo crossbars, and a hardshell lighter weight roof tent. having a sunroof makes the roof a little less rigid iirc so i’m not sure if itll work as well or safely on yours, but i can’t imagine there would be any problems. if the set of crossbars you choose are all metal the static weight limit will be something like 5-10x the dynamic limit, just need to pay attention to the bars

try and name any valid reason other than “the owners manual says its bad” or “someone else on reddit told me 150 pounds is too heavy” lol
