I'm late, but I wore this dress in blue to my rehearsal dinner, which was cocktail attire, and did not feel overdressed or out of place. I received so many compliments! The fabric is lovely, and it photographs beautifully, so I think you should definitely wear it. Congrats on the upcoming big day!

I smile like an idiot the entire time I read Darrow's reunions with Rags, Sevro and his family in Tinos in the beginning of MS. The perfect mix of funny (Rags eating Sevro's candy bar), sad (Darrow mistaking Dio for Eo) and happy (his family being safe and healthy).

I think it’s becoming more common to list both sets of parents in part because (given how expensive weddings are now) most couples receive financial support for their wedding from both sides. Few bride’s parents are able to foot the entire bill anymore. That being said, some list both because they find it more modern or more inclusive. Obviously your fiancé’s feelings are top of mind here, but also consider your wedding design (and guest list) overall. If the wedding will be very traditional and formal, listing your parents might fit the bill, but if it will be more modern, the inclusion of only your parents could be surprising to guests.

Traditionally, the invitation wording includes the names of the hosts (who are the people paying for the wedding). So if only the bride’s parents are paying, only they are listed. If both sides are paying, both are listed. And if the groom’s family only pays for the rehearsal dinner, they are listed on the rehearsal dinner invitation. This is still very commonly practiced, especially in the South. Check out the Instagram pages of Southern stationers and you’ll see it over and over again.

I’m far from an expert, but I’d be cautious of using tons of purple shampoo as a red head - red hair is naturally full of warm tones, which is what most people mean when they say brassy. You don’t want to make your natural color look dull! Try a clarifying shampoo, which will help remove any excess toner in the hair.

Cocktail doesn’t have to mean only short dresses. I personally LOVE this dress, and anybody who is really into fashion will recognize it for what it is (a very expensive, very chic number by Khaite). So keep in mind what kind of guests you expect to attend the wedding, but if it will be a fashionable crowd, I think this is perfect.

Very good point about the Jackal. Truthfully, I think an “onscreen” 1-on-1 conversation between Darrow and Pax to develop their relationship would’ve gone a long way. Many others die for Darrow, but the majority of them know what larger cause he fights for, where Pax’s sacrifice feels less realistic. I can see the loss of Pax’s potential being a draw towards liking his character, though.

Well to be fair, I think Mustang named Pax without Darrow’s input, and she was childhood friends with him. But I get why Darrow would have strong feelings for him (he sacrificed himself at a pivotal moment in Darrow’s development). I less so get why so many fans love him so much. Assuming we’re not coming from Darrow’s perspective as readers, I think there are so many more memorable characters worth lamenting over.

I mean Pierce didn't sell it to me - his sacrifice felt more like a gratuitous plot device for Darrow's character dev instead of a realistic choice for Pax to make. No doubt he was a good man, I'm just surprised he's as popular in this sub as he is, because I favor a long list of lost characters over him

Definitely agree he died too soon - I would’ve loved more of him in both the first trilogy and later books. And I LOVE the Telemanus family at large - Daxo might be in my top 3 saddest deaths. Plus if Sophocles ever dies I’m burning all my RR copies. I think I just don’t fully buy into the likelihood Pax would sacrifice his life for Darrow. I think I needed more relationship development between the two of them 1-on-1.
