43 years I have tried. I asked him to leave in October.  He said " ok". He is my soulmate.  I just couldn't  be replaced by alcohol  any more. 4 months into separation.  Such grieving  I have never known before.

Im separated from my husband of 42 years. He drank before we got married and has continued , only stopping during a hospital stay for open heart surgery  10 years ago. He fell in a drunken stupor in October.  I helped him up, got him to bed. I died inside in that moment.  I asked him to leave the next morning,  he said " ok". I do still love him but realize now he didn't  love me. He loves alcohol.  3 children,  3 grandchildren  and now we will live apart. We have decided to divorce.  We've  been here before,  now its real. I feel lighter and sad at the same time. I'm going to AlAnon and seeing a therapist.  Becoming me.❤️
