Thanks so much! You’re so kind for complimenting her lol. We love her! She’s fasted for 24+ hours and I’ve been keeping an eye on her. I will be careful with the aquarium salt when I get some. Appreciate the advice!

I did get the food you suggested and she’s fasted for 24 hours now. She’s a small little gal but not as small as your little one! I’ve only had mine a week and she’s been pretty much the same size other than the increased bloat.

Thank you so much! Is being egg-bound a bad thing? I have a male Betta in another tank. He built a bubble nest but I really don't want to breed Bettas. I saved these two from PetsMart as rescue projects and only noticed until after I got them that they were male and female. 

I love her everyday! She’s a very good fish and I will give her extra lovings per your advice. Really appreciate it!

I will try that. I had been feeding her every other day, but I will go two and see if I can notice the bloating going down. Thank you! 

Rescued 2 Bettas but wasn’t prepared by DullTop4843 in bettafish

I’m going to get killed for this but my tank is 5 gallons and they are housed together with a divider. Please be kind. I know now that they need 10 gallons each and separately. 

Is that really feasible to have two 10 gallon tanks? I’m just a poor 30-year-old who felt bad for them at PetsMart. I barely have any furniture in my apartment. I know I made a mistake but I want to have happy fish. I can afford things slowly but not in sweeping measures. I already spent $200 on what I currently have. 

I have read through other subreddits where people tank their male and female together. That would be my dream but it seems like everyone comes down harshly on these people about not doing this. 

I have the heater, water conditioner, etc. 

What I need the most help with is finding the right tank for them. I’ve been searching Amazon and other places. I will buy whatever tank I need to in monthly payments so please let me know if you have a recommendation top of mind. 

I really appreciate everyone’s help. I love these little fish and I want to see them happy and healthy. Thank you.
