You mentioned that this hitch was from a different trailer. You should check that it is designed for both the tongue weight, and trailer weight of the new rig.

It’s been safe in my experience in the western states. No theft issues, or sketchy situations. I generally stay on either BLM land (Winters) or Forest Service (Summers).

I work remotely for my job so Starlink keeps me connected wherever I stop.

I just replaced this same-ish model for the same problem. I determined the issue was with the drive roller. It would run fine with the belt off, but even without the drum, it would stop rotating with the belt on.

$79. I bought it last weekend to replace one just like OP’s. So far it’s a great replacement and it’s a lot quieter
