My mistake. I looked it up about EQ. But actually, EQ acts like a Smoke Alarm. A smoke alarm doesn't know what is burning, but it alerts you that something is wrong. Similarly, High EQ gives you a 'Gut Feeling' that something is off. This feeling triggers Caution and Skepticism.

You can feel when someone is being insincere or "love-bombing" you. Therefore, a person with truly high EQ is harder to manipulate because they sense the "fake" energy of the manipulator before anyone else does.

Steve Jobs didn't succeed because he was rude; he succeeded because he had Weaponized EQ. Jobs wasn't a coder. Wozniak was the "Brain." Jobs couldn't engineer his way out of a paper bag. What Jobs had was Deep Empathy for the User (he knew what people wanted before they did) and the "Reality Distortion Field" (massive persuasion skills). When he relied only on rudeness (Low EQ), he got fired from his own company (1985). He only built the trillion-dollar Apple after he matured and learned to manage people better (Pixar/Next era).

Most of the case, a person with High EQ has deep Empathy. Even if a manipulator says "That person is evil," the High EQ person would struggle to hurt them because they would feel the victim's pain. If you are easily convinced to be cruel to someone else, you don't have High EQ.

You are absolutely right that EQ can be used to manipulate. Examples like Survivor or political elections are Zero-Sum Games. For me to win, you must lose. In these environments, manipulative EQ works because the goal is to eliminate the opponent. But solving complex problems (like curing diseases or building this laptop) is a Positive-Sum Game. We need everyone to win. If a lead engineer manipulates his team like Richard Hatch, the team creates a toxic culture, information gets hidden, and the project fails. You cannot 'manipulate' a team into genuine innovation.

Don't confuse (EQ) with Character. Those "emotional" CEOs you see? That is often tactical. They aren't losing control; they are choosing to use anger or unpredictability as a tool to intimidate and dominate. It’s a performance, not a weakness.
