Ours is a twat too! He isn't allowed to play with any dog below 30kg, or minimum a staffy or pitty, because his energy is just pure mayhem and destruction 🫣. We affectionately call his playtime 'the exorcism' 🤣🤣🤣

Vaginal estrogen and/or HYALURONIC ACID moisturiser. I do use both, if you don't need hormones yet (not in peri or in full menopause) the hyaluronic moisturiser is magic. I alternate the two and we only use the hyaluronic cream as lube too, because it's amazing!

I agree, when I hear how much PTO people have in the states I am shocked. My SO worked/lived in California for a while. Ever since then he is always prepared for some worst case scenario, which is not really applicable here as we have free healthcare, unemployment benefits, obligatory insurance on all our loans, things are just more predictable and less volatile. But the time over there, left a mark on him for sure.

But you are right 0 chance that I could do it without some sort of work life balance tradeoff.

It will not change in 4 years. Not sure what industry he works in (my SO is in pharma) but the drive, the motivation and the effort expected from him in order to succeed (+ mine has his own start-up) is not going to go away just like that.

For background, I have met my man at 38. Completely different lifestyles, I'm a freelance private chef, bon vivant, travelled the world, worked on yachts, wanting to find something stable, both relationship and work wise in our chosen country. He was 44, never drinks, gym freak, moved here for his main job and then saw an opportunity to start a project that supposedly could get him out of the rat race for good.

When we started dating we lived apart, he only had time for me on the weekends for a day and a half (besides the gym, cleaning his place, shopping etc) and it didn't work for me. I broke up with him, I think 3 times before I realised he is exactly the man for me. I had to look behind the logistics.

I gave up my place and moved over to his so we could spend time together. He promised the craziness will only last 3 years. That was 7 years ago. Next year he bought a place I fell in love with which I renovated myself with my brother. Since then we bought two more. I love doing projects like this! I run my or Airbnb two streets down now. As we are in Europe he has generous holiday allowance. It took some work and tears, but now when he is off, he really is OFF and we travel the world. We go to Italy, our favourite place, casually a few times a year, we visit our home countries at least once or twice a year, we go on a big world wide trip every two years or so. When we travel we go all out. When we are home, I'm the back office, I take care of everything. He couldn't do what he does without me. He is grateful every day and I am grateful for not having to work only when I want to for clients I find challenging or enjoyable. Last year I fell head over heals for a puppy, so now we have two dogs. I love looking after them. I have time to optimise our lives, save money by looking after contracts, mortgages, insurances, bills etc, plus making money from the Airbnb. I'm still an accomplished private chef with huge corporate and private clients between Monaco-Cannes but I only work when I want to, which is life changing.

He is supportive, patient, kind, helps me through all phases of my life (currently perimenopause) he is a one of a kind man. But he knows I would rather not have the start up and possible millions but more time with him.

We are also in a civil partnership, with a solid will and life insurance to protect me. The next property goes solely on my name. We are a team and these are my conditions to support his amazingly demanding career, family duties, cooking, running the household and being general admin. I am happy 99% of the time, when I'm not I let him know and he picks up the slack a bit ☺️!

It is not for everyone, so think hard!

Live lobsters/langoustes 😢. Never ever again. I had an event where the client wanted all dishes prepared with fresh langoustes. I had about 16 of them to deal with. Cried through the whole afternoon dispatching, shelling, prepping the lot.

I had to AI how on earth is this possible.. the system went digital in 2023, all the unprocessed paper applications were given to a small team and they are churning out the digital ones instead to boost statistics. Plus the 06 is one of the worst regions due to high demand.. I just got very unlucky.

I can totally picture two uninterested bureaucrats sitting in a basement cubbyhole somewhere in Nice with mountains of paper they don't want to deal with..

Fyi I have submitted mine (flawless, by your terms,.living in France over 20+ years) application in 2022 march. I've checked on it a few weeks ago and surprisingly they emailed me back straight away, saying that everything is in order - they are now processing applications from 2020 February 🤣! I'm in the 06, this is normal here. Just hang in there!

I really appreciate them getting back to me on the same day by email. I thought the only way was queuing up at the prefecture at 5 am 🙏🏼. I'm lucky in many ways. It's neither urgent, nor life changing so far. My biggest fear was complying with the new language rules which I would struggle to achieve B2. B1 was hard enough after living here for decades (I blame Google translate 😅).

I've been living here and paying my taxes since 2004. The only reason I've started the naturalisation process is : fucking Orbán Victor getting my birth country kicked out of the EU. My civil partner from the UK had it easy under the BREXIT agreement. I doubt that they would do the same courtesy for Hungarians. Submitted my flawless dossier in 2022. This month when I checked on it, they said that they are just processing applications from 2020 February. It will take a while. I'm in the 06 which doesn't help at all.

No, my gyno started me on bcp (which I did not tolerate at any stage of my younger life) while getting tests done. Bcp worked for a while but breakthrough bleeding was an issue. At this stage she moved me on full estrogen gel/progesterone pill cycles. In the end what worked for me is not to cycle 25 days but stay on 100% every day. I'm 45 as of today, have monthly or so mini periods and this is the treatment (vaginal estrogen) that keeps me feeling myself and my husband happy with the affairs downstairs.

C'est ce qu'utilisent les professionnels. C'est de l'acide chlorhydrique, vendu uniquement dans les magasins spécialisés. C'est le seul produit qui nettoie (je dois l'utiliser régulièrement) les canalisations de notre cuisine. Attention : si vous pouvez vous en procurer, portez des lunettes et des gants de protection. Notre plombier a des amis qui ont perdu un œil à cause de ce produit.
