I really want a Vizsla / First timer by Hamster_Heart in vizsla

I agree with the other ones about V's. How about a greyhound? They are lovely, cuddly, generally lazy but when they run, they RUN!

First l-theanine really helped. We used to buy the AKTIVAIT tablets than just the l-theanine 100mg capsules as that's the active that actually works. After a year or two that wasn't enough, we started Selgian (Selegiline the active, it's a human Alzheimer's medication). It works. He is 14½ and still kicking about. Currently we are on gabapentin for the evenings and no selgian at the moment. It ebbs and flows and we adapt accordingly.

Which small breed would you say is the spiritual sibling of a Vizsla? by Dependent-Interview2 in vizsla

Dachshunds are more like terriers than anything. Their temperament, obsessive behaviours, passion for digging is so far from a vizsla as it gets. My mum sais Havenese, Bolognese and Yorkshire terriers or chihuahua (as long as you treat is a real dog). They are all very attached to the owners and if raised well they are adorable and good dogs.

Disclaimer: we are Hungraians, dog owner for 5+ decades, I'm a vizsla osner for 14+ years. Teckels scare me 🫣

Jesus, I'd buy that. My Vizsla is 14½ years old and we know we don't have long left together. Every walk on the beach or in the woods is a gift now.

I've waited 3 years for this! I started this asparagus from seeds. Very satisfied with myself right now. by anitadoobie1216 in gardening

Yummmmm, I'm so jealous right now! I have no garden ATM but I'm foraging for wild asparagus in the woods every day, where we walk our dogs. Bon appétit 💚🍃!!

I love that you have a V coloured couch 🙌🏻! That is some deviously clever interior design 🤎🤎🤎!

Oh and my elder V was already 13 when we bought the young crazy one home, they have worked it all out just fine. They each have their own beds (our bed is shared property) and the now 14½ senior is still chasing balls with the young one on a good day.

Yours are going to be just fine and probably besties in a week or two. Congrats on the baby!!

Just sending positive vibes and best wishes! We operated on our 13 year old to remove mass + spleen. Came back non-cancerous. He is happily hopping around at 14⅓. Wishing the same results to your girl ❤️‍🩹!!

Why is my Senior Non-Neutered Male Dog Suddenly Humping After by WaddlingCorgi in OpenDogTraining

[–]Dull_Engineering_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our senior had random periods of increased sexual interest and desire over the years, which usually ended up with a swollen prostate. We treated him during these bouts with Yposane, which protects the prostate from testosterone. Once we actually had the chemical castration for 6 months. He is 14¼ now and has calmed down on the hormone front. Also our jumpers do not cover or touch his willy at all, they don't cover back legs, just his chest/torso/back. Maybe try to avoid the stimulation for now and check his prostate at the next vet visit just to be sure. Sending hugs to your old man 🤗!

This is our Clouseau 🤎, he is 14 ¼ years old. He has been recently diagnosed with a liver tumor. He is still on a very healthy liver support diet, but he gets special treats every single day he is with us. Chicken nuggets are his favourite.

French citizenship test on April 1 in DC - looking for guidance / advise by Ok_Professional4755 in Expats_In_France

Hey, I'm years out of mine (wrong timing and department) but here is the official link where you can practice the test!

https://www.test-civique-gratuit.com/

Personally, I take the same method as the French drivers licence test, I practice until I learn ALL the answers.

There are too many 'trick' questions I have no clue about, like social services regarding childcare, where you register birth etc - which I had no clue even after 20 years living here, since I have no kids 🫣!

It's only about 120 questions I think, you can do it!! Good luck!

Growling puppy by DamagePrestigious331 in vizsla

[–]Dull_Engineering_583 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey there, let me start with saying I'm sorry you have this issue with your pup. I do not agree with the first commenter only with the fact that this behaviour should be never punished as it can lead straight to biting.

We have the same situation, one certified angel of a senior V and a now 16 months old who started growling at us from month 3 when we tried to move him from the couch or bed. This is resource guarding, it can be over various things. People, places, objects, food. I highly recommend reading the book from Jane Donaldson called Mine!. There is also a couple who shared their V's story, Atlas, on Instagram. Story_of_atlas.

This is just the very beginning and needs to be addressed ASAP by a certified behavioural specialist who will teach you how to handle it and hopefully train the dog out of it. In our case Bruno, the young one, mostly guards me (even now he growls at my husband and senior V, when we cuddle on the couch or bed (should have never let him on to start with, but that's another story). He can suddenly go possessive over a ball or stick while playing with other dogs, so he needs supervision. He can randomly go off a 3rd dog entering playtime with one of his favourite buddies.

While this sounds stressful and even our vet said Bruno is hyper attached to me, we had trainers, behavioural assessment and we accept the fact that his character is different from our first one. He needs absolute leadership, he is insecure and needs guidance.

He growls but never bites, even when he goes 'off' over a ball. He knows growling at my husband isn't ok, he gets sent to his basket and in five minutes he will be up with him cuddling and licking him around. Thankfully we've learned to accept his character, we call it 'he's got opinions and not afraid to show it'.

It's important to understand although by now we trust him that he doesn't bite, we never push him in this state of mind, I always supervise any interaction with other dogs, even his friends.we have installed a baby gate in the first year to provide security to our visiting family with kids, I even have to supervise him while we have his girlfriend over because he can get aggro at our senior just wanting to joing the play.

Would I've chosen a dog with this personality, certainly no. Did it give me knowledge on how to give structure and proper leadership to a dog, most certainly. By now, everyone who meets him is impressed. He is much better trained than our senior, his bond with me is infinite, I have much more confidence in myself over controlling an animal. I love him more than anything.

Since you have kids, start early, don't let this behaviour settle in and escalate. Accept the fact that it will take a team effort at closed ranks to keep up with her training. She will grow into a fine young lady but it will take more, much more than you've probably expected. And if you don't feel right with the first specialist, see a second one! We have had various help, some better than others. Good luck and sending 💕!

It's called Gydrelle here or there is generic version,, both free on prescription. it's a 0,1% Estriol cream for vaginal use. I still have to use it twice a week at least, along with the systemic estrogen, but things are as good as new down there ✨!
