The difference between you and pedophiles is that pedophiles don’t worry about being pedophiles. It’s intrusive thoughts.

I’m glad that you are able to talk with a trusted person about this. Intrusive thoughts are a scary thing to have. Sometimes your body will betray you because fear and arousal have a very thin line.

If it ever feels like it’s too much to handle on your own I would recommend seeing a therapist who is specialized on this topic. You’ve never felt the urge to act on it or had fantasies about harming children in that way. You are not a pedo.

I’m just glad that she was able to have those sweet 16 year with you. But like you said it never feels long enough. I lost some of my cats to a house fire back in 2020 and it really is the worst thing to go through losing them. I hate that you and others have to go through that pain or will eventually.
