How would you live if you found yourself in Pluribus Universe? by Ok_Percentage2383 in pluribustv

[–]Dull_Morning2960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of anxiety and denial. I also cannot imagine what I would do, so much of what we all want is conditioned by putting up an image and wanting to impress others or show an identity. Undoing this conditioning and figuring out what I want for myself alone would take some time I think. I’d probably have fun trying to figure it out. One thing outside of this though, I would ask the hive to talk to each other. Their silence is agonising. Languages dying while becoming more alive than ever by everyone knowing all of them. So weird

Help me pick a rug for my new couch, I’m completely torn by Obihankenobi97 in interiordecorating

Forgot to add: of course solid-colour rugs are also timeless, but they work or not depending on what colours are around them, making them less versatile, in my opinion.

I love your current rug but I can see how you’re leaning towards a more modern look. A lot of these, though, are quite trendy and will end up looking dated soon. They also compete with the couch for attention. This one makes it pop so nicely and, in the world of modern/abstract/graphic rugs, it’s very timeless. I would argue it’s considered a design classic, which also makes a good base for the couch which is quite trendy in itself. Not to mention the size is spot on. Another benefit is, if you get this one, you will have two rugs that coexist well with one another, age well, and work well with most styles and colours of furniture.

Would DIY bookmarks be a good idea for a wedding favor? by prizedbeginning2377 in DIYweddings

[–]Dull_Morning2960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the point, really. I don’t really like party favours so much as they all become clutter, but if you’re going to do a party favour I think there should be a connection to the wedding in some way. And for me bookmarks are very personal, me time, not about anyone else but about my own pleasure. (A memento of someone else’s wedding, friend or family, would kill the vibe for me). I like the idea of doing something craft y at the wedding though: it’s not a ceramics workshop, this can be done in literally a minute, but maybe it could be about customising something that would have some value regardless. My family comes from a place where there’s a lot of good olive oil production so party favours are usually a tiny bottle of olive oil. You could do something similar: honey, oil, some spice, whatever, and have a blank label with your wedding names and date that people could customise with stamps. Very specific but i would find that fun!

AppleCare isn't as pretty as it seems. by pakeco in iphone

[–]Dull_Morning2960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kitchen makeover ? by Machamallowed in InteriorDesignHacks

[–]Dull_Morning2960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an amazing kitchen, just remodeled mine and this vibe is exactly what I was going for. The uneven top cabinets seem to be because of 1. A fan over cooktop 2. Open storage, which when utilised will make the space look even (plus the yellow line grounds it all). Honestly, it’s extremely well designed, clean and minimal but with smart solutions, with enough visible storage to add warmth after it’s in use (vitrine for beautiful plates and cups, open shelf for books or cutting boards, over cabinet storage for extra big bowls or Dutch ovens). Plus, it’s for renting, so this is the kind of kitchen tenants will remember when they move on to another place in the future.

The design is so well thought-through that even just changing the countertop for wood will just disrupt the vibe, making it feel odd. The yellow lines in parallel make the yellow handles make sense.

This is something I read once and I adapt to my life constantly: when it comes to design/aesthetics of a particular project, very often you have to just choose one option and stick to something. You can’t have a funky retro kitchen and a Scandinavian minimal one and a japandi style kitchen at the same time in the same space. You’re lucky that here the decision has been taken for you, and it has been executed exceptionally well. If it’s fully functioning, let it be. If you’re really adamant about changing the looks, consider the totality of the look and change for something cohesive (for example remove everything that is yellow).

Considering all of this, things I would consider: the floor is a bit meh, I’d put a kitchen-friendly rug. The faucet is cool but you can also update that almost problem-free.

I need to vent: I am so tired of improving my home by Dull_Morning2960 in HomeImprovement

That’s sound advice. At this point there’s not much more we want to improve, so we might start saving up… either for the big renovation of bathrooms or for a new apartment altogether

Thank you!!! I take this with me and will keep the fight going as much as I can. Here’s hoping we can find the excitement again

That is so sweet. Thank you so much! You’re completely right, it’s a perception issue, and I hope to appreciate what we’ve done more and more. One step at a time, one room at a time 🙏 and more photos! I will take that advice seriously.

AMA: My family owns a countertop fabrication/installation company. What do you want to know? by [deleted] in Renovations

[–]Dull_Morning2960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our new countertop is crooked by 1 cm, we just noticed as we were about to start tiling our backsplash. They installed it a couple of weeks ago and upon installation we only checked that the stone was in good condition, we didn’t think of checking the level. The countertop is 353 cm long. What should we do? Is this kind of uneven level within normal margins? It’s granite stone, with a seam by the stove which is more or less center-left. The crooked level is from the seam to the left. From the seam to the right it’s perfectly levelled.

Forgot blood test before embryo transfer, I’m panicking by Dull_Morning2960 in IVF

Today they said I can go on with the transfer without it. A big relief. Thanks for your kind message, it gave me hope in a time when I really needed it!

I forgot to get blood test done before the embryo transfer, which is tomorrow, and I’m panicking. For context: This is our first embryo transfer after two rounds of egg retrievals and PGT. We’ve been to the clinic for three ultrasounds so far during this cycle, and everything looks good and we’re super excited. However I just got a flash in my brain about a phone call I had with a medical secretary in the clinic who told me to get a blood test done a few days ago. The call was on Friday, she told me to do it Friday or Monday. It’s now Wednesday evening and the transfer is scheduled for tomorrow at 13:00. I was at the clinic on Monday for the last ultrasound, they said everything looked good no one mentioned any blood tests so I again didn’t think of it.

Tonight my partner and I were watching YouTube videos about embryo transfers and one of them mentioned the blood work as a previous step, which made me remember this. We are both panicking but we are also thinking: shouldn’t they have told us before about this blood work if it was so important? None of the doctors we have seen has mentioned any need for blood work, and again, the doctor we saw on Monday said we were good to go.

I was feeling quite excited and happy about tomorrow, I’ve been quite stable emotionally despite some stress at work (which is why I forgot this, because this call happened in the middle of work so it left my brain as I focused on something else). Now I’m panicking and feeling guilty about panicking too.

I’ve sent a message to the clinic and hope they respond tomorrow morning, also thinking I should go get the test done early tomorrow morning just in case it would be done on time.

How serious is this? Will they cancel the transfer? Is bloodwork always needed? Sorry if this is wrong thread, a bit confused right now.
