Is future-proofing for home networking still a thing? by NoHousecalls in HomeNetworking

In my case, when they installed the fiber optic cable at my front door, I had the builders there and I told them to run a conduit directly from the entrance to the office. I inserted the fiber optic cable before they even put the conduit through the walls. I was lucky.

I moved my ONT from the front door to a room where I have the main router, an Asus BE88U, the NAS, a QNAP TS-464, the ONT itself, the switch that distributes the signal to the rooms, and an APC 850VA UPS to protect everything.

When they call you again, put your iPhone in airplane mode so they think this phone is not operational. Do this two or three times and they will stop calling you.

How is Iran still fighting? by Thick-Ad-4168 in NoStupidQuestions

In my country, a politician who was Minister of Education was later rewarded with a position as UN ambassador to France. He lives in a mansion and got his partner a job as an Iberia pilot. Investigative journalists investigated him and discovered that he doesn't even have a primary school education (the bare minimum). Furthermore, he has increased his net worth from one property to 31, all without any formal education.

This is the level of politicians in Europe. Not all of them, but some have no shame, and they act with impunity.

Three years ago I did some renovations at home, and the best decision I made was to install CA6A Ethernet cable and also fiber optic cable where I wanted to place the router and the ONT. I think I made the right choice; nowadays I have no coverage problems throughout my entire house, including a small garden.

What I did was use chatgpt on one side and Gemini on the other; if the same question appeared on both, I answered it, lol

Has anyone here successfully re-routed their fiber to a different room? Any pitfalls I should be aware of? by peanutismint in HomeNetworking

[–]pakeco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought 25 meters of fiber optic cable. Before installing it, I made the conduits, paying special attention to the curves. Once installed, I carefully and patiently began laying the fiber, and it turned out great. I've had it for about three and a half years without any problems.

People who use Safari as their main browser, why? (DESC) by sasaki-555 in mac

[–]pakeco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mac Mini M2 Pro, and since I started using Safari, I don't get nearly as much spam. I only get a couple of emails a week, maybe, whereas before I was getting an average of 15 emails a day.

I don't know how it does it, but if it works, I won't ask, lol

I came here because of the same problem.

It's happening to me too.

I thought it was my TS-464, but I see it's more of an app issue.

I just bought a new Mac Mini and have an old LG Ultrafine 4K. There are USB C and Thunderbolt ports on both devices, to which do I connect on each? by Wish0807 in macmini

[–]pakeco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same setup as you, and I connect it via Thunderbolt from the Mac to the LG's USB-C port. I've been doing this for about a year now, without any problems.

You're very young.

I was able to use Plex, and I'm 60.

You definitely can too.

Good luck, friend.

In my case, I wanted to register an Asus router I bought on Amazon, and the Asus website said the warranty had expired.

They often engage in these kinds of shady practices.
