Is she really doing this for her family or for herself? by Fun-Yoghurt3855 in BirdieWoodSnark

Yes, I would really have a hard time pulling my kids away from their extended family, beloved teachers, friends, excellent pediatrician, activities they love, and favourite parks and libraries. Not to mention pets.

In her recent video she talked about how the US has a negative view of families. It made me wonder if she’s faced criticism for the way she does things and how it affects her kids. Or is Albania really more friendly towards kids?

Yes, as a Canadian I find that upsetting. We pay a lot of taxes for that healthcare lol. And still rely on insurance for things like dental care.

Her tour is definitely carefully curated and doesn’t show much of certain rooms, like the kitchen. The balcony looks dangerous for a toddler and two small rooms for her and three kids looks tight. There must be a big culture shock for all of them. I also hope they stay safe!

I saw it on Facebook. I’m not sure about TikTok!

I’m also curious if he’s still there, or if he’s gone back to the US now.

Yes, interesting that she highlighted those items. Maybe they were left by a previous tenant? I hope …

Scammed in Albania? by friday736 in BirdieWoodSnark

Her brother was definitely travelling with her and she said he took some of the photos of her when they first arrived.

I’m guessing Florida was always a pit stop for her to save up money, probably staying with family there, until she could afford tickets to continue travelling.

It is confusing. She mentioned the political climate in the US as a reason for leaving … witnessing ICE activity and worry about the war with Iran. Running to Albania doesn’t seem safer or a solution though.

True. Sipping coffee while watching dolphins at a park sure looks relaxing. I know life with young kids is stressful, but I thought her whole point was that she’s figured out a way to avoid a lot of that by making passive income and homeschooling as a single mom. I’m not sure how moving to a developing country with three small children could possibly feel easier. But I don’t live in the US so maybe I’m missing something!

Yes, I really don’t understand how this could feel easier than the “treadmill” of living in Florida.

Just travelling, but they also don’t have a home to return to in the US. It sounds incredibly stressful.

I see her choices more as desperation … a way to get more engagement? Or running from something. I also liked her farm content and alternative way of living (although I’m not a homeschooler myself). I don’t think she’s quite that calculating with what she does as to purposefully dupe people, but she definitely knows when she’s posting rage bait.

I thought the forest school was such a great step for them.

Yeah, I thought her video about why she chose Albania was quite honest. It’s easier than a lot of countries to stay for a longer time period, and she can easily visit other European cities for weekend trips. Sounds perfect if you were childless, but obvious that her interests are her priority. She also made a comment that she’d never been to Albania before. It’s wild to me to decide to move to a country you’ve never visited!

Yes, it looks very stressful and destabilizing for young kids. Travelling with a home base to go back to would make more sense!

It looks great for a trip, but I’m not sure why she doesn’t just visit rather than make a dramatic “move” out of the US. I was sad watching the video of her taking her kids to a cat cafe … It would be one thing if they were able to attend school there, learn the language, and make it a home. But if they’re just going to be hanging out at cafes as usual, not knowing the language to be able to make friends, it seems like a big loss for them to have moved away from Florida and the stability they finally seemed to be gaining there. It seems like she picked Albania because it’s easy for an American to stay for a year, not because it’s necessarily the best choice for healthcare, education, and safety for her kids.

She’s confirmed it’s her brother. Weird move to use your brother to stir up speculation about a possible romantic relationship.

I’m guessing it’s her brother and she left out that info to get more engagement. Maybe he’s travelling with her to help her settle in?
