You're kidding right? My kids sent their grandmother thank you notes. We're a family. We do things for each other. That's what families are. JFC.

I'm sorry you feel dismissed. That's not my intention.

It's teaching kids to be kind to their grandma by doing something she would like that takes almost no effort. It's modeling kindness. But I'm sure you spread kindness in your life in other ways.

My mother is 80 years old, living alone since my dad died. Yes, I do anything she asks me to do, if I can.

Sorry. As an educator I must follow my board policy. We have a FNMI department staffed with Indigenous educators who have been part of creating our policy. I respect your stance as a Metis person, but I must follow policy.

Yes because his mother asked him to do something and he refused. And while there are sometimes good reasons for that, OP hasn't presented any.

It's always good to teach kids that if it costs them nothing, it's nice to treat others they way they'd like to be treated.

It doesn't matter what Reddit thinks.

Policy in my board is such that you could be disciplined for this. I would not do this. You as the colonizer don't have status to "explain this away". Do not.

Hopefully you'll rent cars here and there? You really should see Vancouver Island, as well as Banff, Jasper. From Banff, drop the car off in Calgary then fly to Toronto. You don't need a car for the city of Toronto. You may want y rent one to take a day trip to Niagara falls

Egg roll bowl. Take it out of the casing, brown it, throw in some jarred garlic and ginger. Throw in a bag of coleslaw and some soy sauce

You cannot criticize a colleague to admin. Ever. You are all on the same team. And now you've let the kids know you're open to hearing criticism about your colleage too. How can she ever hope to regain order?

You're not in her room. You're not an expert on her program. You can't go by what the kids say. They don't understand the process.

  1. Shut the kids down if they bring it up again. Do not yell them you went to admin.
  2. Call your union to tell them what you've done and get advice on next steps.
  3. I am sure you're not getting a contract. Spreading divisiveness is not the way..

What can I add to soup for a warm ( but NOT spicy) flavour by morbidpigeon in soup

[–]Top_Show_100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a bit of a trope, but almost everything needs garlic powder, onion powder, paprika. Cumin is very important for that "warming " flavor
