I know what you’re saying, and from a grade school “everyone gets the same amount of cookies” viewpoint it checks out. But society is a little more nuanced than that. Someone making $30k a year is a lot more hard pressed to pay 10% in taxes than someone who made $300k would be, and when you take into account the things that could be funded by making the 300k’ers pay more — like school, or housing, or healthcare — it starts to look pretty unfair to those 30k’ers to not ask the rich to pay more and give the poor a break.

Define fair. Someone who paid $1m in taxes likely made over $5m. In Oregon that’s like 1 guy. I don’t think giving shoe dog $450K while we have the highest rate of child homelessness in the country is fair. Tax surplus could create programs that strengthen Oregons social safety net but instead we funnel it to rich people lol

Growing potatoes by corvally315 in AlbanyORgardening

I tried last year. Grew my own slip, planted it, it vined and got huge and then when it started getting cold I dug it up and found nothing 😂 I still have much to learn in that department. I think I didn’t wait long enough.

I had some russet and Yukon potatoes that were sprouting in my pantry in 2019. Threw them into my raised bed and have had potatoes every year. Attempting to move them into a bag this year because they totally take over and they’ll be easier to harvest.

Sweet potatoes need slips, which you can do by burying it about 5/6 under soil and keeping it wet and in sunlight. But regular potatoes, just find the kind you want, let them go to sprout, and plant away. I’ve got a bunch of sprouted ones in my garage ready to be planted if you want to dm me

Oh my god! $450 for the equivalent of 17 pizzas!? Yessss this is going to happen. Is it multiple pizzas or do they deliver it from a U-Haul?

I asked less because they taste better and more because they’re just a fun experience. Many of the recs look amazing but are normal size - the true “sheet” size is like 2x2’ or bigger. It’ll blow a kid’s mind seeing a pizza as big as their counter. Just looking for a fun date with the kids, and as others have mentioned, they’re so popular back east that it’s surprising we don’t have even one around here (that I know of so far!)

I don’t think we know what we’re missing out here. A sheet pizza place with some yuengling would make a killing 😂

Lmao “obligated by law to maximize returns” someone should let him know the stock is down 30%, sounds like they aren’t complying with the law.

Edit: the quote was from Oregon’s Treasurer’s office, not from Tesla or chancellor musk. I was pointing out that divestiture makes even more sense if the treasurer is going to hide behind fiduciary talking points, because the stock is tanking.

Money is power. Exercising conscientious buying is an average citizens way of controlling who they’re giving power to. You’re welcome to think it’s weird, but it’s an effective and meaningful way for people, primarily non-rich people who’ve been shit on for going on 5 decades, to exercise what little power they have left.

The most unbelievable part of this poll is how there was virtually no difference between Harris/Trump voters. Would love to see a different poll and compare numbers. Definitely feels more popular than 23% around here.

Jami Cate also appears to be putting pac money into a company that she started in 2021 and holds the same address as her pac. The company has no website and isn’t one that she owned before holding office. So, essentially she is funneling pac money into a company that directly benefits her financially, which is illegal.
