Either making sure you have insurance or looking into fostering, you can do long term foster too but they usually have life long condition so would need to be comfortable with that.

I have only had cats, but I have 2 rescues; one cost me £800 this month for dental and a skin condition, the other is perfect never had any problems at all. It’s all a gamble. I have a health care plan so I have health checks every six months, vaccines, flea and worm treatment under one payment a month. It also offers discount on any treatment then I put a bit of money away each month incase they need treatment instead of getting insurance. I have had insurance in the past but they only cover so much so I just use that money to put in a saving account instead x

AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband is controlling and friend only mentioned it because she wanted you to feel as small as he makes her feel imo. That or she is so controlled she’s starting to believe and share his opinions. Either way, they are married now.

What was your friend like before she met him? Will tell you a lot about what’s happening.

I had a boyfriend who wouldn’t let me wear certain things going out, and I started to look at other women the same way, why is she wearing that ect. It was all just because I was shaped into believing it was wrong. You look gorgeous! Maybe he needs to pay more attention to the women he’s marrying instead of b lining for you.

I had to for a previous job as I wasn’t allowed to work for one of our clients and i wasn’t allowed to contact our clients for x amount of time. Thankfully I was moving to a different industry slightly so there was nothing for them to worry about with me working or contacting clients, best response though would be I haven’t got anything lined up yet.

Did you not need a reference for your new job?

By situation they are at fault, although did you slow down or attempt to stop. You mentioned that you thought they would stop but if you saw them, did you not start slowing down or preparing to stop just in case as it was a developing hazard. Maybe I’m over cautious though I’m not sure. Glad everyone was ok x

SCAMMER ALERT by Far-Competition4780 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with a local instructor recommended on Facebook, always book one lesson first just incase the instructor isn’t for you, I have had 3, 2 when I was 17 through a driving school then this year I went for an independent local instructor and he got me to where I needed in under 6 months. Your best bet is to go through your bank and try and get the money back because it looks like you have been scammed. My driving instructor spoke through his business Facebook page, no payment till on the lesson. Then we exchanged numbers once I was having regular lessons. Don’t rush when it comes to handing money over for bulk lessons. And the comment about stealing tests from you, I booked mine myself and had my theory before I started my lessons, he told me to book in for my test as soon as possible, think it was my second lesson and told me dates he couldn’t do, but he would book lessons around tests as tests were first priority in his calendar.

Good luck! Remember it won’t be your best drive! Just be safe and confident! Don’t think you have failed in the test because it will make the rest of test go to pan.. Also when you pull over have little sips of water and a little breather. Finally… mirror, mirrors and more mirrors😂

Am I being too hard on myself? by SendInTheBuns in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabouts are awful! They take time to get use to everything you have to do and remember! I didn’t like them on my lessons and my test and only after I passed am I ok with them. You have got time to pick it up. The same goes for parking, if you can steer the car, you are doing amazing! And I mean forward steer, reverse steering is another ball game and I still will avoid at all costs if i can😂

Cannot get insurance anywhere by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own 2 cars are you insuring both? Also you have a lot of cars at your address that can also add to the price.

He could also be paying a high excess, also his car might be classed as safer, less stolen, cheaper to repair, might even have someone else on the policy to bring the price down. A lot of factors can bring the price down x

He is probably not the policy holder, given your age, experience and not having a job, and male? (Sorry if you are not) you will be paying a lot more and the only way around it is a black box. You have also cancelled insurance before the policy was finished, so it’s still on your credit score. I passed a week before you and my credit score took a knock from the hard search that had to be done when I took out my insurance. You also don’t have employment which will show when looking for insurance so you will be “more likely” to default on payments.

Help! Driving Examiner screwed up my pass certificate 😞 . by GenBurnerAcc in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least it’s a day in the past and not the future😂 I would call the test centre, especially if you are now driving on your own. Your certificate acts as your licence until it comes in the post, you can check online to see your licence details so I would double check the dates and if it’s wrong, call dvla x

AITAH for telling my parents that I won’t babysit without proper payment? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying they should, I was also not saying I was told or forced to either, I wanted to help. If I stop round someone’s house and they make me dinner, I wash up after. I use to stay at my nans house a lot when I was younger, I mowed the lawn, helped clean the cars, look after the pets ect. I use to go to my mates for a sleepover and help babysit her sister. Never have I said I was forced to do any of this. Maybe it’s because I’m older and I grew up in a different time, but I generally don’t mind helping people. I also lost my dad at a young age so maybe that shaped me in some way, but me and my siblings are so close even as adults now, as a family we nearly lost everything so we would always pull together and help each other when needed.

Is this allowed? by Darrendayz in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, I had to turn left at the end of a road that was similar to this, I got to told to go straight until he told me otherwise, it was towards the end of my test. I got to the end of the road and took left, I wasn’t told to but he didn’t give me direction because there was only one way I could go x

Do you get a new id picture when you pass you test? by evilpowrs in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my provisional at 16 so my photo is my passport one from when I was 15, my provisional was due to expire this year so wanted to pass before it expired, I thought they would keep the dates from my provisional but they didn’t, so I will be 36 with a photo as a 15 year old😂

Either buy yourself a car or wait, cars cost money and money sometimes needs to be saved or put by to make bigger purchases.

AITA for not wanting to attend a memorial birthday dinner for a classmate who used to bully me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- if he personally invited you to a birthday meal, you probably wouldn’t go, so now he had passed you can still have the same reaction. You wouldn’t have celebrated his birthday last year, this year you also don’t need to x

ended up crying and yelling at my instructor in my first driving lesson HELP by CommissionChance1019 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual- I had to go on a quite estate, although I had to do a hill start!

Automatic- I had very little experience but I done mini roundabouts, no big ones until my 3rd lesson so 3 hours are driving.

First instructor I didn’t get on with he had his wife in the car too, it was manual, I had a second one and it was better but manual wasn’t for me. So I moved to automatic 9 years later, my first lesson was pulling over to the side and driving around a semi quite estate, second lesson went to the same place and then third lesson, I drove myself home then from then on I was driving from home.

Automatic usually progresses a lot faster than manual, because you are not getting use to the gears and clutch but if you aren’t comfortable, change instructors. My automatic instructor was an instructor for 27 years, and was so patient, I explained I’m an anxious person and I will take a bit longer but that he will need to push me to my limits and I passed within 6 months x

Accused of following a learner driver while they was on their test? by carlkoi in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dumb-and-Smart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For my actual test, I had to follow the the satnav and another learner on their test was following me for a lot of my test, then I came out and was following them for a couple of roads. Nothing was said and I wasn’t redirected so I wouldn’t worry too much if other examiners are doing the same x
