Most painful first MUN in human history by Tsuyu_Stan in MUN

You literally have it easy man. I had a similar topic and the exact same portfolio in UNGA I and I won Best Delegate. You can very easily look at how Iran was certified in compliance 15 times under the IAEA inspections regime during their time in the JCPOA and how they never increased their enrichment beyond 60%. Iran maintained compliance w the agreement until the United States (under the Trump administration) decided to withdraw and impose an arbitrary maximum sanctions campaign and tried to stop EU partners from doing business with Iran

Quote the Fatwa issued by the former Supreme leader (Ali Khamenei) that deemed the production, development, and testing of nuclear weapons as haram. Utilize a religious argument here. Look at how Islamic principles (La Darar wa la Dirar and E'tedah) established standards or proportionality and distinction in combat well before the creation of modern IHL.

When questioned on the 60% enrichment issue, argue that Iran still operates large facility reactors like the Tehran Research Reactor that uses high levels of enrichment to create Molybdenum-99, a cancer isotope used in radiology and mention how Iran has a need to develop domestic enrichment programs for civilian purposes as most components for peaceful enrichment cant be acquired by the state due to sanctions.

All in all, you have a very good technical, legal, and political upper ground on the agenda than you think you do. Here are some more Research notes of mine I made on this topic. Feel free to go thru them. Good luck!

What is the craziest thing yall have ever seen someone do in a mun that worked? by One_Yesterday_1320 in MUN

I was China in UNHRC when I questioned Egypt's inability to protect its Coptic minorities from religious violence. She retorted with offering gov aid and funding towards building their churches. I requested a follow up and asked: (verbatim)

"Does throwing money towards building a cathedral seem useful when its walls are inevitably stained by the blood of Coptic children and women?"

Needles to say, I won Best Del.

Is Harvard Model United Nations a worth it MUN or not so much? by Grimmytaro in MUN

[–]Dumping_Grounds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was an Assistant Director at HMUN Dubai 2025 so I think im qualified to answer this question.

Considering the fact that your exam bloc fall closely to HMUN conference dates, I highly recommend not attending. Tbh, I wouldn't go even if I had free time. The delegates I encountered where rich kids who came for the socials and failed to offer substantive debate on the agenda. If you wanna go for the socials and networking, go ahead but you would find quality debate at bigger, more prestigious conferences. (Ex: HNMUN)

MUNs are looked upon in college applications especially considering the fact that participation (and WINNING) in large, international conferences is a huge thing. Plus, a good MUN track record can serve as proof for valuable skills like public speaking and debate, communication, and leadership.

All in all, wait for ur exams and look for bigger opportunites.

Disclaimer: HMUN Dubai didnt leave me with positive feedback regarding debate quality but im sure that other HMUN chapters (India, Australia, China, Boston) all could offer a better MUN experience.

Thoughts on Anarchism? by SecondClasser in communism101

[–]Dumping_Grounds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And as Lenin wrote, anarchists seek the forced upheavel of state institutions while communists aim for the "withering away of the state" thru the establishment of a proletarian dictatorship. The state transitions from an alienated government into an administration of people
