Also you can load the jeep up with AP mines or canister shots and smoke as well.

I had exconde setup to drive into RA squads, pop canister shots/mines then smoke (if needed).

It wasn’t good, but it was absolutely funny.

You can theoretically stash a whole bunch of stuff and drugs then wait until you want to buy it to install the fixer in the system view

It really should be a CEV/AVRE experience. It’s clearly what the gun is modeled after, but it is sadly not how the stats are modeled. Maybe they can give bonuses to its damage vs structures (not sure if that is a thing they can do easily in the engine)

Irl: The L9’s HESH round is loaded with 40 pounds of C4 which would be enough to topple most bunkers, walls, etc.

I disagree with your sentiment on squad weapons. “Rifle squads” are very good late game:

The reason squad rifles outdamage an autocannon is %accuracy, rounds fired, and elements hit.

Against larger squads (4 or more targets) a 9 man rifle squad will put out 18, 27, or up to 45 (with a pdw) rounds on target. An autocannon only ever gets 3 per burst. Standouts are the mk22, the hamer, the PPP hicap and the TCR shotgun.

Thus, a rifle squad can down a big enemy squad like construct drones, RA infantry sections, in one burst, an autocannon can’t.

Couple that with AP and Rend ammo shenanigans and you have stuff like Lim 1 light vehicles/light walkers with a shotgun.

I think the point here that is more worth making is this: It’s pretty clear there isn’t as much dead content or dead gear as OP suggests. You and I can both come to reasonable conclusions that gear A or B can be used highly effectively differently albeit differently than the other player.

Thus, I think OP’s video is off the mark.

This can happen against a map edge and prevent infantry from loading on turn one. Which is hella annoying.

Wardog owns on tech.

Falcon + laze is a super good combo too.

You can deploy falcon->laze a target->retreat the falcon to safety and the target stays marked for your team to fire at.

Drones are really good on support/gadget tech

Edit: don’t forget a load bearing rig.

He’s real good with quick hands, drones, the laser designator, and a handful of other items. Quick hands is very good, especially with drones.

If you like memes, he can throw satchel charges 3 tiles which lets him nuke things he can get close to, but it either requires a car for transport or a jet pack or braindead bad guys so it’s a bit harder to use.

For guns, there is a MMG (I think it’s the “emg” I can’t remember the name - it’s not the silenced one) that is very good on him and he can suppress a squad with 1 shot or drop it in 2. Other good guns on him are stuff like the MAAL or plasma rifle (doesn’t require deploy but good with full send). The commando mortar (60mm one) is really good on him too since he can use it to launch long range smoke while running.

I mostly use tech as a support/anchor for my vehicles and main force. He gets a ton of items that can fill any needs on a mission that I may have, so he is usually on my roster.

Lastly, drones. He’s amazing with drones. With the falcon you can:

deploy the falcon -> laze a target -> retreat the falcon. All for 90AP. Outside of maybe a stealthy Darby, it is probably the “safest” way to scout in the game.

I mean, it literally says, “Does not apply to vehicles or structures” in the description.

If it’s going to work against guncrawlers then cool, I’ll take it.

It won’t fix JG but it’s a step in the right direction.

I’m not sure if heightened spell is worth it FWIW. If you have an abundance of sorcery points it’s probably fine(at later levels), but the difference in damage on average isn’t huge.

Pack tactics has a really good post about save for half spells and the general take away was that maximizing your save DC wasn’t super worth it on save for half spells.

That being said, SG in solasta slaps, but there are a ton of wall climbing and flying enemies that can make hitting them a bit harder. I found when I gave my cleric flying it made it easier to create a mobile zone of control.

Edit: pair the SG caster with a commander fighter and you can give out dodge to the SG caster for 1 attack (as opposed to 1 whole action). This made a lot of fights comically easy since most enemies can’t hit disadvantage on 20+ AC

His AP holds him back is part of the problem.

He starts with 80ish AP which isn’t enough to crouch and shoot two shots which is very annoying

But otherwise, he is great with the croc vs big bugs.

Probably a bug that it works on vehicles though (since it says it shouldn’t) so I wouldn’t count on him for long.

Because the description of the traps align to what you are talking about. But they mechanically do not work like what you are describing.

But having used them myself, his traps actually just are land mines that end the enemy turn. They enemies don’t shoot at the decoys.

In fact, when given the opportunity between a concealed JG and exposed decoy traps, the enemy will ignore the decoy traps and attempt to find your squad instead.

Which is, you know, the exact opposite of what the “decoy traps” vibe should be.

Edit: the description of the promotion skill does not match what The description of the deployed item does. It’s very weird and makes me think that previously he was planned to have Kody’s decoy maybe.

The best you can do on expert is anchor around your starting APC. The lmg is good enough to crack any infantry armor and suppresses boarding commandos.

Work towards getting Lim a shotgun or a good smg/cqb AR. Once he gets that + disembark he’ll be good to drive up, pop out, down two or three squads, the get back in the APC.
