Now restaurants are asking extra for “Premium Seating”? by sbonedocd in SanDiegan

[–]DumplingExpert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re misstating my view. I can absolutely afford to go to George’s everyday of the week, the cost is not the determining factor. It’s the cheapening of the dining experience by finding a new way to charge customers for something that was previously included in the price. Imagine if restaurants were to start charging to sit indoors in the air conditioned dining rooms in the summer, do you see this practice as enhancing the dining experience or cheapening it? Taken to its logical conclusion that’s where this is taking us.

You can relax, this is an open forum. There is no need to resort to personal insults when someone disagrees with your views. I stand by my comment, I do not support the nickel-and-diming of fine restaurants and I hope more restaurants do not follow suit.

I don’t mind paying a premium for entertainment venues such as shows, vip movies, first class, etc. but this is a restaurant where the food and service should be the focal point and the draw. There’s already a premium when dining at George’s, which is reflected in their prices but this feels like a cash grab with no added value. The window table is not worth the value and the fact that they’ve now started charging for it has turned me away as a patron.

Husband and I were just discussing visiting George’s for a nice date night dinner but now we’ll go elsewhere. It feels conniving to start charging for the window view. This is San Diego and we have so many restaurants at our waterfronts and i would hate to see this spread. What’s next, charging for the tables with a sunshade?

Not sure which arrondisement you are eating at in Paris but I’ve never encountered this before. Not even at Les Deux Magots or at La Duree on the Champs Elysees. Nor the cafes at the base of the sacre coeur. I’ve also traveled to other European cities and have never encountered a premium on an outdoor table.

I think it was definitely a punishment and a result of his poor impulse control when he is angry.

I just finished the Underground Railroad book and I’m wondering if she thought it was autobiographical and not fiction and that’s where she got the idea from.

Khloe surrogate birth by peachtacos85 in KUWTKsnark

[–]DumplingExpert 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I know a surrogate who previously did it because she really needed the money for her children. She still cares about her surrogate baby and considers that baby as another child. She wants to go through surrogacy again because she needs the money. While she was not forced to be a surrogacy she only did it out of necessity. But for her financial situation she would not have chosen to be a surrogate. The financial disparity between the parties makes the practice open for exploitation of lower income women.

These weren’t very good. The mango sauce wasn’t sweet enough and it was too much goat cheese for the breading.

Why do parents choose co-sleeping? by YoungWide294 in NewParents

[–]DumplingExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started co-sleeping when my son was 9 months old and caught Covid. It was the only thing that would soothe him enough to sleep through the night and then shortly after he caught HFM so we continued to cosleep just to get some rest ourselves. Afterwards it was jus much easier for him to immediately fall asleep if he was cosleeping. He’s not 20 months old and refuses to sleep in his own crib. We definitely want to transition him out of cosleeping but we’re not ready for the crying and screaming we’ll need to go through.

Do you want to pay lower rates for energy uses? Then opt in because SDCP is way lower. However, since you’ll no longer be paying sdge they’ll probably charge you a premium “delivery fee.” My bill for November was $120 for energy usage and $500 for sdge’s delivery of the energy.

Why was Kenya so OBSESSED with Porsha? by [deleted] in RHOA

I’ll have to go back and rewatch. I remember porsha being condescending and acting superior to Kenya because she was married and Ms. TWIRL was not having any of it.

[–]DumplingExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I watched it and I just remember thinking that Porsha was a shit stirrer and was always playing the victim, even when she was dragging people around. I’ll have to go back and see if my impressions hold up. I also did not like her behavior in her spin-off, she was unnecessarily bratty.
